This is the second time in like ten in-universe minutes someone has gone “Wowee Allison look these people have come to fight for you/for themselves but really for you” and I wonder who the next one will be
I bet it’ll be Oscar, he’ll show up with the last living pursuers or something and someone will go “look allison, look who comes to fight for you” in a quietly marveling semi-somber tone
…I just wanna see Oscar Badman Cooldude before the end and maybe KILLBOSS too, just show up and put the screws to some faceless goons
I’m damned excited that things are kicking off and the Big Team Battle is beginning. Still kinda wish the scale of things was a little bit more clear, though. I still have no idea how large the Large Lads being deployed are, there haven’t been a whole lot of things to measure them against. To be honest I have very little idea thusfar how large most of these ships and statues and ship-statues and assorted goons and so on happen to be. Nor do I know why anyone is so concerned about the aforementioned Large Lads, they’re acting like these berserker guys are some well established threat that we have seen doing… literally anything at all. There’s been maybe four minutes of fighting thusfar, neither Allison or any of the Main Crew bar Maya have done much of anything, and the whiplash between “OH NO WE’RE LOSING!” and “ALLISON LOOK, THESE (ships/people/Worm Clown) HAVE COME TO FIGHT!” is beginning to hurt my neck.
Visually it’s all amazing and I’m absolutely hyped to see what’s to come, and I totally understand that this is only the very beginning of a very, very large battle(s) but it feels a little bit muddled. Things are a bit confusing, especially compared to the start of the Jaggy VS Team Demiurge fight, where things flowed very naturally and the powers on display the stakes and the dangers were extremely well defined.
Still, I’m sure it’ll all be made clear within the next few pages and I’m very excited to see Incubus stop sitting on his own hair and spouting cliches (Hm, there’s still some fight left in that one!) and begin Swording towards/into/through people. Sword Targets will surely include Maya and the rest of the gang, and other people will likely be sworded as well. Sworded by his sword, and perhaps if beloved Abbadon is kind and generous, other people and other swords as well. There’s already a character flying about on a sword, and another who can sword without a sword, who knows what other sword and sword-adjacent marvels lie in store for us?
I see a lot of exposed flesh for a worm to bite into. And for all the eye protection (how do they see?), the mouths are open. They might accidentally swallow an insect.
Mottom doesn’t care. She’s like the Flood or the Necrovirus… When everything else is dead, the worms will feast. They’ve been there before and will be there again many, many times.
