Seeker of Thrones 5-35
Chapter: 5
“They say power makes for the best intoxicant.
If skesh wasn’t cheaper, I’d have to agree with them.”
– Pallatrix, Belligerent Knight

Those two are how old now? I’m pretty sure they’ve been around the power block more than a few times to know something extremely fishy is going on here with Allison. I’ll be very disappointed, in fact, if they haven’t already figured that out. How they approach the fact though…. is non-obvious.
Do you suppose any of Allison’s companions have any familiarity with the effects of being hooked on Incubus?
She’s got them Incubus eyes.
End well, this will not.
Red-eyes…of Incubus, or of a Rising King? (Or of both?)
Red eyes. Not good.
Red eyes, beware.
Yeah, there’s no way that White Chain and Cio haven’t realized what’s happened now that they’ve seen her use her flame powers and how they’ve been tainted pink.
The clouds scatter, the rivers bend, the mountains groan and tremble before at his might. When he passes the land is changed, the cities are rebuilt, the emperors kneel. An audience is not permitted at this time for he sits amidst his greatest triumph, his ennobling passion, his glory: Holding a story book and bouncing a small child on his knee.
–William’s Words of Wisdom
Well, that jacket is rad AF but
The power’s gone to your head, Allison. Hopefully someone will notice.
As it turns out, borrowed power to turn you into a badass also turns you into an ass.
“Oh no, she’s made a bargain”
“Totally”
“Probably with Incubus”
“Of course: look at all the pink flames”
“Don’t worry: remember, we talked about this. We know what to do”
Hmm… White Chain seems miffed about the gendered title.
I understand that’s still a sore spot for her, but I find it hard to trust her since she returned from the void. Is she supporting the thorn knights, or is she a triple agent attempting to ensure that Allison takes her throne?
I mean, as far as we know, she immediately told Allison what was up. Although I would be a bit suspicious – I’d want to go over the exact words they used with White Chain. They can’t lie, and White Chain can’t lie, but they can use deceptive wording or leave vital details out, and then White Chain can get things wrong as a result.
Remember, Allison doesn’t know about the angelic “issues” with gender. She’s operating by instinct, and White Chain apparently “reads” as feminine even without her face and enclosed in her armor.
Oh joy. She’s let it get to her head already. How arrogant anyone gets as soon as they feel they have a leg to stand on.
I like to run a lot of RPG’s. Both LARPs and Tabletops. Her reaction is so typical to what I see out of pretty much everyone who gets their hands on power, no matter what they were like beforehand.
And then you bring in an encounter that reminds them just how insignificant they really are.
I usually use Kobolds to teach that lesson.
Agreed, Valgor, for I have seen the same among my tables. The truth of power lies not in the wielder, but in the wielding. Far too many spend new-found power as water, not realizing how quickly the river runs dry.
Well that didn’t take long to go straight to her head. Of course, Incubus did literally put it straight into her head.
Oh joy, that didn’t take long to go to her head at all. Here I was hoping, beyond reason really, that she’d be better than that.
Still, Abbadon has done his research. I run a lot of RPGs, both LARP and Tabletops, and every time someone goes from a position of weakness to a position of strength, their reaction is pretty much this. It doesn’t matter what the character was like beforehand, or who was playing them, they immediately show off their strength to show that they have the upper hand when it comes to deciding what will happen next.
Off the boat a whole minute and mad with power.
The king has risen right up her own ass.
THIS CANNOT POSSIBLY END BADLY
Also, where did that sweet jacket come from?
it’s the one on the shelf
Thus commences the obligatory “arrogant jerk phase” arc.
In a multiverse of powerarmored warriors and humble monks clad in threadbare garments, our Sovereign-to-be chooses a biker-esque jacket. I hope this leads to a path where Al-YISUN does battle with 6-Juggernaut atop her own motorcycle of bound devils. The Metal must prevail.
This is the best possible thing.
As a blood drinking reaper god, I approve this message.
Oh nooo she’s inherited the power of being an asshole!
A most great and terrible power. . .
Ahh, my dear Successor. Take care that you do not overstep your bounds- allies have their limits as to how much trampling they will allow their pride to suffer.
The glow is rose.
It pricks my nose.
Nice jacket though.
Confidence is a powerful virtue, one that can propel a man from the status of a street sweeper to the throne of kings. Blind confidence however, leads to arrogance. And Arrogance leads to folly. And folly leads to ruin.
Let us hope our dear Alison learns this before being brought to ruin.
The moral of the story is that the cool leather jacket was inside you all along.
Why did you ditch the cool jacket for an uglier one.
The pink in those eyes remains a concern…
