It’s refreshing to see a hero who, when presented with a metaphorical deal wit te devil (Okay, slightly literal), immediately says “FUCK YOU LET’S DO THIS RIGHT FUCKING NOW”
Allison already has real power. What she lacks is emotional power. So she gives control of her mind to another, so that she may control her mind better.
See? It’s impulsive decisions like this that make the Naysayer’s Guild such a vital part of Throne’s socioeconomic ecosystem. But no, everyone flocks to that damn Sycophant’s Guild because of their fancy “people skills” and “likeability” and what-have-you.
“If he can only perform good or only perform evil, then he is a clockwork orange — meaning that he has the appearance of an organism lovely with colour and juice but is in fact only a clockwork toy to be wound up by God or the Devil.”
― Anthony Burgess, A Clockwork Orange
Allie wants control, and makes a choice to get some … coaching.
Fake it ’til you make it, eh? Definitely works in the real world. You can actually do some very foolish stuff and still come out ahead with wisdom, and you can definitely seize re-dos so you can apply that wisdom later. So she’s not necessarily fucked. And if I recall isn’t Allison supposed to kill her lovers at some point? Incubus would be a good starting point, and I definitely want him dead more than the rest of her crew.
On a writer’s note…I’m curious if too much cliche-breaking will break the narrative. I’m not enjoying the most recent pages, they feel off in pacing or something (if this was my story I’d go back and do a new draft and rewrite the last scene, from the point at which Incubus appears), but I figure I’ll learn as a writer from them regardless of the current arc works or doesn’t for me as a reader. Good luck.
Excellent .. Amazing .. I’ll bookmark your blog and take the feeds also…I’m happy to find so many useful info here in the post, we need work out more techniques in this regard, thanks for sharing.
Ah, yes, the creation of a contract with a being of great power and unfathomable motive. This I know well. It’s quite nostalgic, really!
I never regretted the price paid, even though I had plenty of reasons to. I’d hope Allison won’t regret this either, but… lol

I can’t wait to see how this will go, ofc it will only end bad for Alison but thats what u get for taking shortcuts.
Can’t wait to see how this will go, but know it will end badly for Allison, couse thats what u get for taking shortcuts.
On a side note, it seems to be very hard to post comments on this webcomic, even with e-mail and all filled out, any reason for that?

I’m struck by how elegantly Cio’s earlier rambling lead to/fueled this. That is good storytelling.

Absolutely disgusting.

A god carries power as a cloud carries rain, doing as it will. The Rising king shall know only drought and drink the river dry.

Faust thought he bargained with a thing lesser than himself, and he was wrong.
Alison thinks she bargains with a thing greater than herself, and she is also wrong.
When dealing with gods, the line between ally and thrall blurs.
I see no way this carefully conceived plan could ever possibly fail.
where? You may not be local to Charlotte NC, but most towns are similar. Thanks! http://healthyworm.com
WHile I do think Allison made a bad choice here I am 100000% certain she WILL, in fact, murder him if he turns it around on him
Silly me, thinking we had at least a smidget of character development in her. Being a dummy as usual.
I mean, going in half cocked without a plan worked pretty well last time. If it isn’t broken it doesn’t need fixing, right?
There was no mental connection. It’s all bullshit. This is a placebo because Tuxedo Mask is fucking useless. She knows it. He knows it.
This is what he learned from Pree Meti, how to forge masters of the sword from… themselves.
I mean, I’d have made the same choice.

….aaannnd hook-line & sinker.
I wonder how the Sword King Incubus is doing right now, hmm?
