Recall: a devil is the Hot Black Flame, the shadow of YIS, given name and mask, and by those things given form.
What, Preem Chuck, would you expect of one who was first bound by the name “Princess?”
The New Laws of vatra are many, and broken with much frequency, but it is from time to time worth contemplating why they counsel one must be judicious, if one is to be Wielder of Names.
But he was so cool in his grandpa-devil form, and in that moment “Yes, I remember, I was great once!” Why devils must become female to stay cool? Yes, we have Oscar, but he is insufferable ass. Sorry if my opinion is insulting for anyone, but it just unfair :’ (
This game looks similar to one that I played once, on a world well within the reach of the seven black kings, but so far removed from anything that could be could be considered valuable that as far as I know it had never been visited by a single one of their direct inferiors (But perhaps to activate the gate), only those many ladder-rungs down from divinity.
The objective of the game was thus: One would be dealt a hand of cards, and should either have the highest total sum of numbers or convince the others to withdraw, or “fold” as Preem Allison’s game seems to term it. One could call the holder of the hand a liar and force them to reveal their hand, but there were substantial penalties for doing so if the other party was telling the truth. The third rule, which I was not told but discovered midway through the first exchange, was that should someone be called a liar, they were free to try and kill their accuser before their hand could be revealed. I escaped the scene by crawling under the tables of other patrons, making off with my acquaintance’s copper while he was being stabbed.
This guy looks like one of Gog Agog disciples…now I wonder if she can make pacts like Incubus and control their minds from afar. Would be really useful to get ahead of trends and stuff
Ahhh, such subtlety of detail. Not only the Queen of Worms on the table (though it’s a nice touch indeed) – behold, the whole bowl of plums in the background! Seems that Allison’s lessons in the Art have somewhat uniform results.
And yeah, the first panel with its juxtaposition of our heroines’ familliar abode and of Gog-Agogs emissary actually made me shiver,
Breaking the rules might be necessary to win these games of chance, but you’re exactly as likely to see a heateater lie as you are to find a devil that won’t take you life at the first opportunity.
In fact, I’d say the victor here was a orgone conclusion, honestly.
See? This is why I used to always carry a deck of cards. You never know when you’ll need them.
Also? It’s time for me to start carrying a deck again, just in case I’m sucked into a world-between-worlds and forced into some truly wicked shit, like our dear Allison.
Does she realize she is trying to get an angel, a being of rules, to break them? Success might be the greatest danger – who knows what an unbound angel could do?
If both sides abide by the rules then its a civilized (or as civilized it can get). If one starts to cheat the rules, whats stopping the other from cheating as well?
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Worm Queen is able to shapeshift to look like a minion, but we don’t know the limitations of the shapeshifting.
As for the minion/acolyte/follower, it’s not known whether the minions are part of a hive mind of sorts with each individual being a part of Gog-Agog or whether they’re individuals who joined Gog-Agogs service and were given the same abilities.
Clubs have mud and diamonds glitz
Cards consume like charybdis
I need to know which King this is.
My dude “formelly-ebon” devil Princess-something-someghing looks like damn Jasper from SU, dont you tell me you made a “lady” out of hi too

I think you’ll find that Abbadon prefers to draw girls. 😉
Princess has gone from grandpa to Motley Crue rock star.
It’s not really a downgrade. Think of it as a sort of mid-eternity crisis.

I like the theory that they are all Gog-agog

GET YOUR FEET OFF THE TABLE CIO, JESUS CHRIST
If your eyes are on her feet, they aren’t on her eyes.
Associate Un-Fel is wise indeed.

“An orgone conclusion?” You must be pretty hot and bothered about it.
Hrmm… Orgone conclusion is best conclusion. Always take a happy ending when you get the chance >.>
“you cant just follow the rules if you want to win”
But my dear allison, following the rules is all any (decent) Angel CAN do.
They are cripples in this regard.
“Grin!” as a sound effect? Those must be some loud teeth!
I love these Ladies
maybe draw two hearts on the two of hearts and four spades on the four of spades? or I guess allison drew the cards and got lazy about it
How can one bluff with one-hundred eyeballs.
Wow. White Chain looks (dare I say it?) divine!
This whole page is just gorgeous. 😀
I Will Fold You In Half Like Your Spine Is Just Made Of Playing-Cards Lol
White Chain looks great! Also, that’s an interesting statement from Alison: even though it’s in the context of the game, there’s implications there…
Those playing cards look like guest art by Kate Beaton

Bluffing is part of the rules, though. It’s a game of deception.

I thought that jester was an old man…
HELLO!
NYA!H!H!H!
Is that Gog-Agog herself? Could be but a servant… But the arms carry the same markings as the Worm Queen’s

Jesus, White Chain, it’s like when you’re fighting someone and you feint… you’ve never learned to feint have you.
Is that godskull wearing sunglasses? I swear, it is.
