The setting of this little ceremony appears to be upon the shoulder of some unfortunate Aeon, who must have met some grim fate, and is now waiting to be reborn.
Peculiar. 6 Juggernaut [etc] also seems convinced that Zaid is the successor, as are the demiurges. But it seems fairly clear from our perspective that Allison is the true successor, or at least a suitable backup. I wonder how 6 Juggernaut’s plan here will conflict with that. Maybe White Chain will refuse.
Also damn your two story threads and leaving them each hanging at interesting times.
Why would the Thorn want the key to get to Zaid though? were they not the ones who prevented that in the first place? perhaps a change of plans? or the Thorn are not unified? Or maybe the boy referred to here is someone else…
I think, and this may be a bit of a stretch but hear me out, that Zaid is Zoss’ son/grandson/distant scion. I think there’s a bit of a resemblance between the two, and it would certainly explain why everyone is so sure Zaid is supposed to be the successor when it’s clearly Allison.
Well I mean. These are angels here. Aside from 82, they seem pretty out of touch. Juggsy might just think that Allison is a boy, and wishes to gift her another key?
Also, perhaps these two story threads are connected and the Ebon Devil challenged Allison to a dramatic jump-cut contest.

Maybe he wants another king to rise and cause even further chaos than is normal in these parts? It’s possible, especially since the key is attached to someone who has been prophesised to be the killer if rather a lot of demons.
