The younger Yaun seems, even now, to be quite fond of novel forms of acupuncture. I would stress that, for the novice user of such techniques, the sterilization of the puncturing implements should take a greater priority than it appears it has been for Yaun here. But, sometimes we all make do with the methods available to us in the moment. Still, I cannot help but notice that while the meridians utilized here are quite effective at empowering the patient’s Atum, they do absolutely nothing to relieve stress.
Perhaps if you were not so steeped in death that you could immediately sense your death has already arrived, then you could strike without thinking and fell the god eater.
I’m frankly mostly surprised by what’s established here to be such a gigantic, nay, insurmountable gulf between the Maya/ Incubus level and the Yaun (Jagganoth) level, pre-keys (assuming, as most seem to, that at one time Maya had what are now Incubus’s 111,111 keys).
Not altogether sure what to make of the fact that Yaun/ Jagganoth is… THAT super-overpowered even at this stage of his existence, certainly considering Maya and Incubus are meant to be students of what’s been made out to be THE supreme sword-art. I get the impression he’s been changed and expanded a lot as a character over time, of course, but still. I mean, the text backstory for Yaun definitely cemented him as someone not to take lightly, it’s just… he’s so massively superior to Maya and Incubus they were as though “killed a thousand times over”? How? Notwithstanding the angel feathers, even the boost from the 111,111 keys (if all are equal, which… I took to be more-or-less the entire point, what with the balance, “Seven-Part World”, etc etc) wouldn’t do anything against such a massive gulf between Jagganoth and the rest (Solomon David, who seems to have been the only one to do anything of value in the fight, excepted, probably), so how did the stalemate ever come into being? I had more of an impression that each of the seven came from their own background- martial arts, battle, magic- and were more-or-less on the same level starting out, triumphing over other, in whatever ways lesser, competitors for the keys, eventually accruing sufficient power to start rampaging and claiming hundreds, thousands, hundreds of thousands of keys, until all seven stood at the pinnacle, were unable to best each other, and cemented the pact. Jagganoth, at some point, gained ascendancy by way of the angel feather invulnerability thing, which, as we have seen not too long ago, was very much to his benefit.
I’m assuming Maya and Incubus, here, are more-or-less fully-trained in Meti’s school; that is, they can hone their skills and strength, but as “swordsmen” specifically they’re not novices. Unless there’s some Kenshin-esque “haven’t yet learned the final technique” deal going on?
Well, we obviously know that they survived this encounter.
For the seven part world stalemate, it most likely didn’t happen all at once and happened in stages leading up to the evenly divided peace. Stuff like this may seem simple, but they never are leading up to it. Also, at one point it was said that it would take all of them to counter Jagganoth (whether that meant the empires or just individually, I’m not sure) and Gog-Agog would be the most powerful of them all if they weren’t insane.
Though I do wonder how they managed to get exactly even keys among them, the odds are pretty low if it’s just chance alone.
Perhaps you’ve seen it, maybe in a dream.
A murky forgotten land.
A place where souls may mend your ailing mind.
You will lose everything. Your past, your future, your very light.
None will have meaning, and you won’t even care.
By then you’ll be something other than human.
A thing that feeds on souls, a Hollow.
One day you will stand before the wheel, without really knowing why.
Like a moth drawn to a flame, your wings will burn in anguish.
For this is your fate.

If you don’t think, the logic goes, then managing stress is not necessary.
Which is of course the height of foolishness.
Take care of yourselves, y’all. <3

Meti herself said it. Weapons don’t matter, skills don’t matter, keys don’t matter. All that matters is will.

One must wonder, who is narrating this section?
Is it Incubus, or Mathangi?
Abbadon is really showing his love for master Miura’s Berserking Scrolls
