Seeker of Thrones 6-69
Chapter: 6
“There’s no kinship among thieves, and there’s even less among devils. If I had to pick one over the other, I’d go with the thief. Judges help the man who picks a devil for a traveling companion.”
– Amvater ya Imven, Bone Monk
I think that Gold Devil just made a very bad mistake.
I wouldn’t be surprised if she was going to be getting her mask ripped off and reapplied with a bunch of new names very shortly.
I personally think the Gold Devil was actually replaced by a mimic in the last room.
And this, my lovelies, is why you do not hang behind.
join forces with evil, its a constant test of patience and awareness
Next comic: Allison vs. 600 mimics
Place your bets now- accepting all legitimate guild currencies, first born children, and for those of you with good credit rating, even favors!
Okay, but the question is: do Mimics could as demons? Gotta know if we need to update her kill count.
Twenty mortal souls on the Al’yi sun…. and a crusader’s soul on the mimics….what? I like to hedge my bets.
I see and raise you’re bet with the still beating heart of a black hole on Alison and ten souls of heratics on the mimics.
I’m going to say it actually flashes back to the tea party.
This is going to lead to a great many dead mimics, methinks.
That devil just committed suicide.
And here goes the first of the folks to die. Pity; I rather liked how she looked…
Okay that’s not how you hold scissors Suuz.
It is if your fingers have a zygodactyl joint…
Aesma’s Bitch!
Just some tin snips has old MacHeath, babe…
See the devil breads their word
At times when rules of space get blurred.
I bet the next room’s more absurd.
Love a good breading on my words. Nice and crunchy when fried.
Betrayal! I never would’ve seen this coming! >:O
You come at the King, you best not miss.
She better just be cutting the line so that she can tighten it. Yeah, that way it’ll be easier for Alice to cross.
…
Nah, at least one person is probably about to die.
I’m thinking that THAT Allison is actualy a mimic who somehow got onto the rope.
My reasoning is that..
A: That’s a pretty good reason to cut the rope, is if a mimic is on it
B: Why cut Allison away, of all people? I get you might want to make it so you can spread the loot across less people but this seems both too soon and too convenient
C: Part of reason b, actually. Allison has a Key of Kings and clearly some dope-ass armor (and perhaps some other goodies). No good adventerur sends good loot to the depths to be irretrievable and that is EXACTLY what Suuz is doing here (it seems) it’s a good way to waste good shit. And also, before anyone says “maybe Suuz doesn’t know Allison has a key of kings” I think that at least some (if not all) of the members of a team specifically put together to raid a Key of Kings from Mammon himself (espcially one consisting of a Ebon Devil who has been planning this heist for…a long time) wouldn’t recognize that Allison has at least ~A~ Key, if not ~THE~ Key. So I feel that at least some of them should be trying to keep her alive, if only to make the Key in her head easier to loot, later. (and it;s gonna be hard to loot that key out of that pit of mimics, who will mimic the key..sooo)
D: Cio is obsessed with Allison, and she specifically told Princess Mamoru to make sure Allison doesn’t die (5-41) so I don’t think either Princess or Cio would leave Allison to be last.
E: Finally, Allison just straight up WASN’T last. In 6-68 we see the order of the group on the string and Cio and Charon are both behind Allison on the string, so why is she suddenly last? (i suppose they could have passed her at one of the pillars but the pillars look too small for a maneuver like that to be done safely, and also why would they need/want to pass her in the first place?)
Another bit of info I used, but this is kind of a stretch, but she seems to be shaking quite a bit on the string here and the first coin Suuz picked up seemed to shake a lot when it was activating. It’s kind of incidental but it could mean something.
Then again what the hell do I know? I’m just speculating here.
A wall of words; ever rising. There is a measure of truth behind it, but it’s so hard to see now.
There is elegance in brevity.
E: She doesn’t have a lot of upper body strength. The others passed her up, either at a pillar (or in the case of Cio and Charon) walked over her.
This thought crossed my mind as well. We shall see.
nice!
I don’t think that Suuz wants to kill Allison, for it’s: 1) Stupid (she’ll be killed by Cio or someone else as well); 2) She’s holding a rope between her fingers to prevent Allison from falling (yet she did cut the rope). Also, where did cat lover disappear?
To someone not in the know she looks like the weakest link, one less person one less share, bigger take.
I can’t believe I didn’t thought of mimics. That sly author, pulling a fast one like this just after the remark about the lack of subtelty from mimics he got me good. Maybe. We’ll see.
Foolish.
That will not end well for that Devil.
rip in pepperoni allison
Rip ‘n Piss Suuz, we hardly knew ye.
Curse your sudden yet inevitable betrayal!
This demon is not the smartest one, killing the one you are working for is a great way to not get paid.

One less share.
Aesma’s tits, indeed.
Don’t you know, you never split the party!
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=waa2ucfgVgQ
Ahh, Suuz you rascal. AL-YIS-UN will have to kill you last.
Suuz is just fucking with Allison.
(I think)
Almost certain that qualifies as suicide.
Goodbye Suuz. You’re not going to be swearing by any of Aesma’s bodyparts much longer.
Well…… of course!! Demons!
She ain’t gonna drop her. She’d not still be holding the rope. Or else..well, it’ll be clearance sale for timber for MIniMalistIC ikea
Sooooo…. Any bets as to how long the acrobat lasts?
I hope the Gold Devil is just cutting it in order to either secure it somewhere else or have another strong raid member (like Oscar or the other big Red) hold it so the distance is shorter for Allison.
When the thread of fate is cut chaos takes over and only vengeance can reestablish order. This I have known time and time again though i cannot say who wields the blade each time.
Well, that did not take long.
Shes gonna do a superhero landing!
It didn’t take long for this band of thieves to start offing each other, in the interests of making their individual shares larger. (Then again, they’re devils. They probably exercised admirable levels of restraint, taking this long to start backstabbing each other.)
Of course, if they wanted their individual takes to be larger, they’re going at it the wrong way. Sure, if Allison dies, that’s one less person to divide the loot between. But it also means one less person who can CARRY loot out of here. What they should be doing to waiting until they’re out before the betrayal starts. That way, they can grab the loot the dead person was carrying.
So, like I said. They are impatient criminals.
“When she tried to kill me, she thought, ‘You take too long.’ When I killed her, I thought, ‘You died too quick.'”

Mm watcha say
RIP
No, it’s “snip”. See, it’s says so in the last panel.
RIP Suuz, maybe.
more like CUT
MORE LIKE SNIP, AMIRITE??
No, no. SNIP.
no; SNIP
First you misjudged that coin mimic, now you’re going misjudge our Alice.
She’s smug now but when young alice-un gets back she’s gonna be bitch slapped down a few levels.
Hey there Misses Devil. Don’t mean to tell you your business. But unless you’re about to use your inhuman strength to help Allison across, this is a profoundly unwise decision. Even ignoring what the rising king might do to you if she survives (which she will), Cio will kill you for playing with her toy.
how rude!
Ah, I can now see which devil is about to die first now, I was unsure as to who was going to go out first.
So, how would you trust a Demon Thief? Would both of those negatives cancel out and become the most trust worthy being?
With Malice and Dexterity the Thread of Life is Severed.
Tactical scissors! Are they brass?
Oh good. It’s about time one of the devils did something devilish. Restores my faith in devilish nature and all that.
Obviously the mimics are toast. Ditto the devil.
Suuz really has no sense of self-preservation.
Suuz really has no sense of preservation
Suuz really has no sense of self-preservation
Wait, where do those fountains of gold coins go?
It is actually mimic food, which explains the mass of furniture below.
Woops!
I think a certain devil has just reduced their lifespan rather significantly.
What? No!
I shoot the bus driver.
“Less of thee, more for me”
kill counter is about to go up.
Mmm watcha say
Mmm that you only meant well?
SHE. HAD. IT. Coming.
She had it coming.
She had it coming.
She had it coming, all along.
If you’d of been there.
If you’d of seen it.
I betchu you would have fed her to the massive amount of mimics.
Hmm… I would think that someone with Godly power could get terribly pissed off from an attempted assassination. It sure would cut down on the duration of the dungeon crawl if she were to simply destroy everything between her and Mammon / her boy friend. Maybe some brute force tesseract deconstruction?
Hmm… does anyone else hear “I’ve Got The Power” playing in the background?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jnv0ejmLlY
Honestly, I’m more thinking “Bad Man”
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=w5HkRhq7SCU
Just for thematic appropriateness.
You know I was going to say ‘what a clearly stupid decision’, but looking at it – Alison is right at the back, she’s not got any publicly revealed special powers or skills, she’s struggling, scared, slowing the group down – she looks like dead weight, from the devil’s perspective.
I mean, it’s still going to backfire on that devil super, super badly, but it’s not so obvious in advance.
And thieving devils are the worst of all
Despite the availability of chairs I doubt Al Yisun will take this treachery sitting down. Suuz the Acrobat better have her devilish affairs in order.
A pretender to be sure, only Royalty truly know of the Art of Cutting, and this Devil is no Royal.
A truely Royal cut redefines the self and the universe in one circular motion. As you say, this one is lacking. In fact it does just the opposite. These two, formerly nutural parties are now so connected that confrotation and recconing are unavoidable.
Wait, did Charon get across?
Presumably both Charon and the pale mechanic are still behind Allison.
AESMA’S APPENDIX.
Now comes the worst game of musical chairs ever played.
I’m not sure what else she expected, really.
I think this party is about to lose a member…And it isn’t going to be AL-YS-UN.
A stadium-full of mimics can’t provide much opposition to a rising king who truly grasps and cuts…And I bet this betrayal will provide her all the rage she needs to obviate any self-doubt or hesitation in the coming moment.
…Or perhaps Suuz is just going to pull the line more taut to provide Alison an easier time.
Naaaaah.
(On the other hand, this seems awfully stupid on Suuz’s part…Either she hasn’t figured out that Alison is a Power to contend with (which would be very stupid on her part, since our favorite fancy-dressed gentleman defers to her) or she’s in the employ of the Dragon, in which case this is a terribly poor place and time to take on someone with the King’s Key locked in her cranium).
Let alone a devil with both a rope AND scissors.
Prepare for something sudden yet inevitable.
Someone’s gonna get cut over this. Or at least stabbed.
Treason must never go unpunished, even when it was expected
“Wha… You unbelievable asshole! Ok, I should’ve had expected that.”
FUG :-DDDD
I know there must be a reason, but I demand answers immediately.
Guess its time to tests one’s luck again.
No! Bad devil! No kill protagonist! Bad!
Fool.
There is one thing that you must not place into a trap.
A Sovereign.
Time to show what you’re made of, Allison. Be that gore or sterner stuff, we’ll see.
Well. Goldie’s dead.
how regrettable
I’m curious, what is their escape plan after this action?
A bold choice killing of the main character 6 chapters in. I’ve gotta respect that.
Oops, sorry. Didn’t see you there.
did you forget what we are foolish
Me thinks that devil is gonna be losing some important parts pretty soon
Oooohhh this will not end well.
For the devils I mean. I do not expect our little wire wielder to last long after this.
That came quick.
I get the feeling that a lot of violence is about to happen.
Violence is inevitable….
I must say; for all their shine, gold demons are the most horrendous to rely on. It’s that thin veneer of gentility that they so often has that causes so many outstanding problems.
“oh yes, let’s give the key of keys to these mindless mimics what could go wrong”
Oh yes, let’s give the Key of Kings to a bunch of mindless mimics. WCGW?
YOU FUCKED UP
I’m confident Allison will be fine. I’m a little worried about Suuz.
Oh no dey di-int
Do not seek the wrath of a God.
SOMEONE’S GONNA PAY FOR THIIIIIIIIIIIS
*falls on hard times, also mimics*
Wheres our friendly lizard demon mastermind who was just behind her?
Oh, well, end of comic, everyone!
Alternately: The chairs turn out to be really nice!
Never trust the gold demons.
Never trust a golden demon
But… why?
Oh this is going to cause so much death. I can’t wait.
Leave it to a demon to murder the very patron and core point of the expedition for no apparent reason other then, “it just seemed funny at the time”.
Fear is the murderer of achievement.
WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS
For the evulz
And when you regroup with the team…murder that bitch
Each member of the team is useful and then betrays Alison in the order they are introduced? Mechanic next?
It’s not the fall that kills you; it’s the thousands of waiting mimics.
Well, at least she’ll have somewhere to sit.
Also how on all the earths does this seem like a profitable back stab to make right now?
Maybe they think they can sell Alice’s boyfriend back to Mammon at exorbiant rate?
I’m pretty sure the sudden pink glow indicates that Incubus is fucking with Alison’s head, here.
Suppose the gilded lizard-man has something to say about that.
Actually now that I think about it you could say this counts as… Suuz-icide.
I can’t help but be of the impression that Suuz has seen an opportunity..
To indebt one, however slightly, being Allison.
Or maybe the devil just doesn’t like stragglers.
Either way, such is mine impression, that this is not an act of betrayal.
She’s not cutting the line, Suuz is going to tighten it so Alison can cross.
I think Charon is still behind her or something?
ALLISON
KILL SIX BILLION MIMICS
I don’t think this is a backstab. Either that’s not Alison or there’s another reason she cut the line.
Or the demon is really Yandere-chan, deadly with a scissors and wanting to be noticed by Senpai
Calling it now: they’re just chairs and Suuz wasted all that wire for nothing.
Fool me once shame on me
– Fool me twice –
Ha! Yeah, we would fall for the same thing twice.
– NOT! –
Bye bye little miss mimic.
Take a load off.
Have a seat.
Have several.
You’ll be floored by this one.
I wonder if mimics intrinsically recognize each other?
Would the others gather to cushion her fall?
These and many questions will be answered right after this commercial message.

Guess we will find out more soon enough, next week.
Same mimic time.
Same mimic channel.
