Seeker of Thrones 11-152
Chapter: 11
5. Violence is circular. Perception is not circular and lacks flawlessness- therefore, rejoice in imperfect things, for their rareness is not lacking!
6. Love of self is the true exercise of the God called I.
7. Only an idiot cannot place his absolute certainty in paradoxes. The divine suicide is a perfect paradox. A man cannot exist without paradox – that is the full of it.
-Psalms, Book I (ROYALTY)
I’m glad we finally found out that White Chain is dual classing as monk/rogue.
I dig characters with facial scars. I’m starting to like this series. More.
I started re-reading the story, just to see how different White Chain is now than before.
There was a lot of violence, destruction, & a tendency to try to lead & dominate almost everything, not just in battle, but also in conversations, to what everyone was going to take as the next course of action. The epiphany they had when they saw people reacting to them about to beat someone to death with a table.
A lot of other callbacks and forshadowing in very subtle ways. For example, we’ve seen Thorn Knights, Mammon, & Incubus fairly early on, the ash armor that angels can inhabit & bound demons can control (in the case of the buses) looks eerily similar to armor people are wearing. It’s just, who do you get to possess the darned thing in the first place, a hostile demon that somehow fits inside a limb, or a friendly angel.
Not to mention our meddling King of whom Allison is the successor, who also seems to floating around messing with space time quite a bit, as he keeps showing up to see how things are panning out after his eventual death… This might be a fringe theory, but it really seems to me now that the God King trying something a bit more complex that he is keeping to himself. Like, when Allison told him he lost his head, he corrects her & says heads, then covers for it saying there are 7 more to cut off… I am thinking the only mistake he did there when he said heads is conveying the truth, if only for a nanosecond when he backtracked.
As in, he scouted out worthy successors that weren’t screwed up people looking for personal power. Instead, he looked for two very screwed up people suffering from co-dependency issues.
I mean, the few comics before Allisson’s boyfriend get kidnapped & put into a magical cryosleep did not endear me to him in the least… But is he always like that? We might be just about to see a flashback to see what exactly Alice saw in him in the first place, & why she wants to save him. Now, just imagine if the shoe was on the other foot, & he had the key instead… I did, & then I got to thinking that, that was the entire point in the first place. Allison’s predecessor really started to doubt their decision when she was about to abandon a friend, Cio, to accomplish her goals. I am thinking the pair were technically chosen in anticipation of how prophecy actually works, & he IS already screwing around with the timey-wimey anyway. Maybe he got to thinking, what if he purposely just decided he would show up there, after he scouted them out a bit & was convinced he might get the results he needed throughout space-time, seeing the effects he wrought before he actually takes his actions, with his actions being, thrust the key into the face of whoever is closest of the two, knowing full well whoever got the key would be kidnapped before it could happen, thus making whoever was still there the closest person, & they got the key instead (thus causing a new cycle, & two versions of the entire multiverse, one where he has the key and has to rescue her, & one where she gets the key and has to rescue him. And would both versions of the same person be linked after a key gets slammed into the other one in order to make the odd-duck technically averted prophecy happen? I may have gone too far with this speculation though…)
You know, Cio, I see what you’re doing with your tail there. Mehehe…
Cio’s glasses appear to be missing in panel 5
I wonder if, when White Chain’s shell was intact, she always kept the same pair of eyes facing out, or put them in a rotation?
Noooo, I want to hear more from White Chain!
Does anyone else imagine White Chain speaking with Christopher Judge’s voice? Because I do
I imagine she does speak in that register when she has a chip on her shoulder about being a traditional “genderless” angel. I wonder if she knows any angel jokes…
“A thorn knight, a petal knight and a root knight meet on an abandoned planet…”
Cio is drawn so cute and sexy here… even a root knight can admit that.
White Chain just be like, I don’t care if you guys are gay, I’m so beyond your mortal whims.
I just love how Cio subtly puts her tail on Allison’s shoulder.
I love how, in the original one, White Chain is no-nonsense and doesn’t care for Allison’s need for explanation, but after it got redrawn and colored, Abaddon added some exposition through White Chain, and people called it out. Since then much of the exposition has come from her to the point that it’s an inside joke.
i love how little provocation she needs to go into weird metaphysical rants
“hi White Chain. how’s the coffee?”
“God is dead, life is flawed and it all returns to nothing”

I admit to still not fully understanding the 5th Psalm. If a most learned one would share their thoughts, I would be most grateful.
