Even I can say as much, truth is merely the opinion of reality. Those who are stronger than reality can form their own opinions, and force them to be truths. Here, Allison Ruth does as much. The first truth: acceptance of the inevitable. The second truth: defiance.
On a completely unrelated note, I have just received word that a gentlebeing some worlds left of mine along The Wheel has been flooding Throne’s mercenary government with cease and desist orders.
Panel 6-7: That moment when Allison realizes she never told her parents where she was going, and probably never will. That regardless of whether she ascends to monarchy or dies an ignoble death, she can never go home.
Assuming she ascends to Royalty (and most of the foreshadowing seems to establish that as a foregone conclusion), who would stop her? Who could stop her?
You could be arguing the philosophical side of ‘you can’t go home again’, but that’s true of essentially everyone.
Well yes, “you can’t go home again” is a big part of it. How exactly DOES Allison return to her folks and say “hey mom, dad, I was missing because I was the centerpiece of multiversal war and became god-empress of all reality”. We who live comfortable, stable lives cannot fathom how much war changes us, let alone war in other dimensions, wielding incomprehensible powers against inhuman foes.
Regardless of what happens, if Allison lives, her outlook on life will be so radically altered by her experiences (and personal power and altered senses) as to make it impossible to relate to her folks. Regular soldiers in our world have trouble reconnecting with the people they left behind. Allison might as well have become an alien being by the time her journey is done.
All of this assumes, of course, that she can even afford to make it back home. Even if she claims the throne tomorrow, she’ll still spend years – if not decades or centuries – consolidating her rule. Getting all the fighting to stop, organize the rebuilding, and fending off anyone who would try to steal the throne until her position is unassailable. You can’t just assume monarchy, then immediately take a break to go on a personal trip. That’s as good as leaving a vacancy on the throne, or leaving her vulnerable to attack while she’s visiting her Earth.
By the time it’s safe to indulge this particular personal desire – by the time she can afford to step out without her empire falling apart – her parents will likely be long dead. (And that assumes they and the rest of their world isn’t swallowed by the upcoming multiversal war.)
I don’t know, I feel like the conquering king could go wherever she pleases, but it may be a bad idea. Dropping Zaid off is one thing, popping in on her parents looking the way she will by the end of this will just cause them to call 911 immediately, and that’s assuming none of her enemies would follow her to find weakness.
Oh cool. Is this where she starts seriously killing demons? I only ask because she’s got billions of the buggers to kill and she’s been slacking so far.
Although I suppose if she’s going to be immortal now she could always take her time, and just knock off one or two a year.
The first truth: abolition of self.
…
I certainly hope not.
Even I can say as much, truth is merely the opinion of reality. Those who are stronger than reality can form their own opinions, and force them to be truths. Here, Allison Ruth does as much. The first truth: acceptance of the inevitable. The second truth: defiance.
Not abolition. Conquest.
If seduction is a form of conquest, Alice has already done that, and she did not learn the first truth from the experience
Oh fuck, it’s happening! Allison is finally achieving CHIM- I mean royalty…
On a completely unrelated note, I have just received word that a gentlebeing some worlds left of mine along The Wheel has been flooding Throne’s mercenary government with cease and desist orders.
AE CHIM CE ALTADOON
Wrong universe, sera.
The moment when the reality of one’s situation dawns on you, and you’ve got to start doing shit.
The road stretches on for eons more, brimming with realizations of what’s been left behind.
On the moor it’s good to roam
Thoughts can sometimes drift to home
Whether beggar’s stall or throne
I had parents once.
They had a run-in with an ebon devil.
I no longer have parents. But for different reasons. They made terrible life choices.
Which explains a great deal.
Devils, Angel, many-eyed,
All do watcheth new King cry
King wipes eyes and so alights,
King doth muster will to fight.
DESTROY THE GREAT ENEMY CALLED “I”
“A thousand mile journey begins with but a single step.
A single step, begins with but a thousand mile journey.”
King and carrion crew of thieves,
warriors, disgraced royalty,
and chronicler of her lofty path,
Her every step, and every deed.
YAAAS QUEEN!!!
Well her halo is a crown in the last panel.
Stealing my comments, are you?

She’s beginning to believe.
“What are you trying to tell me? That I can cut the Universe?”
“I’m trying to tell you that when you’re ready, you won’t have to.”
Panel 6-7: That moment when Allison realizes she never told her parents where she was going, and probably never will. That regardless of whether she ascends to monarchy or dies an ignoble death, she can never go home.
That’s a heavy moment. I LOVE IT.
Why?
Assuming she ascends to Royalty (and most of the foreshadowing seems to establish that as a foregone conclusion), who would stop her? Who could stop her?

I somehow don’t think 911 can stop someone capable of teleportation.
This makes me feel intense THINGS.
That last panel is depicting such a humble girl, harboring the burning Glory of Royalty. Truly a sight to behold.
Mah hart
Mah sole
Courage dawns,
Heart-fear breaks,
Let Shadowborn tremble,
And Heretic Shake.
This is going to be an amazing movie one day.
Calling it now.
(Or a TV Series who knows)
By the time she finds that idiot boy, he’s going to be a monster.
AL-YIS-UN is looking particularly regal in this update.
I love what is being left unsaid in those silent beat panels.
And the crown. It looks untainted
A tragedy told in reverse,
All back to two,
Two reunited as one,
Yet to draw strength not from I,
But we
