I sense a great deal of maneuvering will happen between our two former Ebons.
Just because they are diminished in stature does not mean they are diminished in skill or deviltry. Our Godking Ascendant will surely learn much of handling her Court from wrangling the shenanigans of these two volatile yet safely de-militarized powerhouses.
I have wondered often at the amazing unlikelihood of TWO fallen Ebons arriving in the Godking’s Circle. It seems to me that the Non-Causal Hand of Old Zoss may be at work here, providing yet more tutelage for his unlikely, and perhaps unexpected, successor.
Al-Yis-Un seems to have learned much from the Evil Queen’s bad example.
Actually I’m curious about that- devil’s have a (for lack of a better word) biology that is nothing like anything else we know of. And when the individual types were described a while back, it almost seemed like they had shifts in personality along with their colors.
I think it’s reasonable (although at this point just a theory) that a devil’s mental attributes and inclinations shift around with their physical form.
It is a sad day when I feel sympathy for an unbound devil, but I take comfort in the knowledge that they are not properly sapient. That said, the delighted grin on Princess-who-was-Vladok ‘ s face is a thing to behold. Our Rising King is not messing around.
While one should not judge a book by its cover, one should at least look at the cover before declaring the name of the book. That is not me, but one of my brethren who has fallen upon unfortunate circumstances.
Seeing as how a books ‘backside’ is actualy called a spine, and that this book is quite massive one wonders if a smaller book would have hade less of a metaphorical spine as much as it has less of an actual spine
It would only make sense that the only way one could be able to lift something from someone that used to be a Ebon Devil, was someone else who was also a Ebon Devil.
But regardless, I’m almost a little surprised at our dear Al-YIS-UN. I did not think her to be this… Ruthless? Callous? Some other word like that towards someone who has “Saved thy pretty arse at least twice now”.
Ah. but, how am I suppose to know anything about these matters? I’ve only recently discovered the comic about a month ago.
When so many (who have no reason to be your friends) have latched onto you, the new guy, you need to find out what they want. What they REALLY want. Cio is an obviously facile liar.
On the contrary, Al-Yis-Un is not being ruthless, nor callous, here.
Mottom’s greatest fear was being consumed by her court of rapscallions and vandals. That is because she failed, in her Glory, to bring them firmly to heel.
Here we see Al-Yis-Un, the Godking Ascendant, taking firm steps to avoid the trap into which Mottom fell. Lo, the Godking will not be manipulated, dissembled with, or slighted by her Court!
That way lies the rotting madness of Queen Mottom, and surely, Al-Yis-Un does not wish to take that dark and miserable path.
Thus, she does firmly establish her proper place, namely, that of Royalty.
AL-YIS-UN is slowly accepting her status as Royalty. A hallmark of Royalty in this multiverse is total certainty; a complete lack of doubt in ones actions. If an obstacle gets in the way of your desires, cut it so that it is no more.
Being Royalty does not entail being considerate, empathetic or even particularly cerebral. One can draw ones own conclusions as to whether such a state is worthwhile.
Beside changing fast, Nyave is also very quick with gloves.
No glove on her left hand in panel 1, glove on in panel 2 (with good reason I might say), and in panel 3 her left hand is un-gloved once more!
Over the course of many millenia, scientists from some of the more backward or unenlightened works have tried to devise new ways to proper ships through the void. Chemical rockets, electromagnetically charged ions, light sails, atomic fusion…various primitive methods have been proposed.
Yet few of them have ever stopped to consider the untapped potential of using unbound spawn of chaos as the main means of propulsion. I wonder why.
Uther "Chaos Angel", Least of Jagganoth's Foreservants
Excuse you, I come from one of those supposed backwaters. Some places don’t have all that many, okay? And there isn’t much travel through the portals. And we managed to colonize a nearby planet with that “primitive” stuff, so there!
Unfortunately I can be neither sure nor certain.
The irregular white lines that AL-YIS-UN emits on occasion, is it trembling or rising power?
I’m inclined to believe the former, but as I said earlier, surety and certainty are beyond my grasp.
I believe that our intrepid God-kinglet is trembling like a newborn lamb.
The reason is twofold: First, she has sustained her first serious wounding. Until you are used to the degraded state of your instantiation, such wounding tends to cause various effects, one of which is trembling.
The second and I suspect stronger reason is, Al-Yis-Un is being assertive, in a strange place, to people she would like to be her friends and allies. It is remarkably difficult to be domineering to those you like, and especially so if you are a virgin King, whose Royalty is yet but a mere developing nubbin. I suspect she is frankly shaking like a leaf because she is being mean to these people, and it is just gutting her to do it.
This reflects well upon her, if that is the case, both because she is proceeding anyway, and because it bothers her.
Also, is it just me, or does it look like Allison mysteriously teleported or something between the 1st and 3rd panels? In panel 1, Allison is sitting directly to Nyave’s left side, while in panel 3, Allison is sitting directly behind her, and it doesn’t look like she’s stood up, walked a couple steps, and then sat back down again, especially given how injured she is.
It’s especially obvious when you look at how White Chain is positioned relative to them; in both panels they form an “L” shape, but its polarity inverts between the panels, from a left-facing L to a right-facing L, and that can’t be done with just rotation. I mean, did White Chain just pick Allison up, carry her a couple steps, and then put her back down again?
What does that engine do? It’s not connected to a drive shaft of any kind, and the supports are pitiful-looking for something that could be lifting the ship.
Does the one wish to edit the embellished records of her adventures?
That is not a good way to properly use a pair of scissor, but wait, is the one having something more interesting in mind using the word to do the deed?
I was once told that when dealing with demons, first count your fingers, then count your toes. Lastly, count your relatives. No one, however, mentioned books. I see that the demons are finally moving out from just the organ trade!
Your statement is technically accurate–I am going through some trying times indeed right now, after what happened in Mottom’s palace. But while I may have had some temporary difficulties regarding my head, I did not lose so poorly as to fall into Ciocie’s clutches.
Why did Zoss, choose, in all of creation, our dear Allyson? He knows her better than she knows herself. And he knows there are many such, but why not her? He was bold enough to breech the heavens and steal creation from the gods. He knows the depths of mortal ambition. But he is male. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned — or underestimated. She’s adjusting. She’s probing. And now she knows what the gods themselves do not: she alone is the rightful heir. And she knows that the gods themselves do not know it. Some dangerous games are afoot here.
Take heed, dear Allyson. Trust no one. You have no friends in all creation, not even Zoss. Soon you will betray even him. Do not despair — you do not yet see. But it is his will, and desire, that it be so.
Cio burst upon the ghastly scene, arriving just in the nick of time to swing into action on a handy bit of rigging and seize the fainting Alison singlehandedly from the clutches of evil Queen Mottom. Safe atop a futtock-braced semi-sternsail crow’s nest, they sped away in the fine ship Cio had cleverly acquired (crewed by several other people whose activities would only bore you, dear reader, if I mentioned them) as Queen Mottom, left far behind, gnashed her teeth and displayed a succession of agitated postures indicative of rage.
Now they were alone together, lost in the hurtling night skies.
Above them shone the cryptic stars. Cio felt Alisons scantily-clad pale body and proud breasts pressed, quivering, against her own practically naked fine, blue, equally-quivering body, and her erotically significant zones.
Alison looked adoringly up at her rescuer. “Oh…oh Cio” Alison breathed. “Take me now. Make me a woman”
As they embraced in a fashion which I, dear reader, blush to relate, Cio felt her erotically significant zones quivering with a tempestuous passion they had never quivered with before.
On this cursed day.
When I am filled with terror.
This is the best thing that has happened.
Same…
THIS.
Hark!
Betrayal amongst the Blue Imps!

Al-Yis-Un seems to have learned much from the Evil Queen’s bad example.
Good for her.
Ebons were listed as most dangerous because of their age, experience, power, and obvious exceptional cunning (to even make it to Ebon).
Blues were listed as more useful, but also one of the most dangerous to bind, as they were known for their cleverness and guile.
Ah already indulging in needless cruelty, blackmail and catty behaviour. You’ll make a fine ruler Allison.
I once had a master who was an actual cat, and believe you me none have ever held a candle to him in terms of cruelty and catty behavior.
does “he” refer to the master or the cat?
Both. I had wound up, due to the antics of my sixteenth master, bound to a housecat. Not one of my prouder moments.
Princess looks awfully smug in the second to last panel.
You would be too if you were airing a rival’s dirty secrets in public.
To smile in the twenty-fourth way is a practice known as “grinching.”
Looks like you’re missing a few angel needles there. I wonder what those do?
It is a sad day when I feel sympathy for an unbound devil, but I take comfort in the knowledge that they are not properly sapient. That said, the delighted grin on Princess-who-was-Vladok ‘ s face is a thing to behold. Our Rising King is not messing around.
Heheheh. This is gonna be embarrassing for Cio, interesting for us ^^
It sure looks like it runs instead on pocky…
…is that INGSVLD’s head?
While one should not judge a book by its cover, one should at least look at the cover before declaring the name of the book. That is not me, but one of my brethren who has fallen upon unfortunate circumstances.
REACH HEAVEN THROUGH SMUGNESS
Man, that is one chill book. It doesn’t look nervous about Allison waving those scissors around AT ALL.
That takes one heck of a spine.
Seeing as how a books ‘backside’ is actualy called a spine, and that this book is quite massive one wonders if a smaller book would have hade less of a metaphorical spine as much as it has less of an actual spine
Devils, son.
What can’t they do?
I spot the smuggest blueberry of them all.
You also pushed her off a cliff Pree Cio. I tried that once and wound up incorporated into one of these very devil engines for nearly a decade.
Princess looks incredibly smug here.
Aggressive editing!? Surely, this is cruel and unusual punishment.
This seemed like a much better idea before she realized that she could only speak the local cant, not read the runes.
Do you think space boat has space for passengers? There’s a certain little nation on an inconsequential globe I need a one ticket outta from ASAP
Nyave is like, the Hermione of Kill Six Billion Demons.

” I did not think her to be this… ”
When so many (who have no reason to be your friends) have latched onto you, the new guy, you need to find out what they want. What they REALLY want. Cio is an obviously facile liar.
Welcome, “Jake”.
On the contrary, Al-Yis-Un is not being ruthless, nor callous, here.
Mottom’s greatest fear was being consumed by her court of rapscallions and vandals. That is because she failed, in her Glory, to bring them firmly to heel.

That way lies the rotting madness of Queen Mottom, and surely, Al-Yis-Un does not wish to take that dark and miserable path.
Thus, she does firmly establish her proper place, namely, that of Royalty.
She Chose King.
Oooh, I really like that engine. (I like engines)
INGVSLD? Is that you? *cackles*
Royalty is a continuous cutting motion
Oh good Lord(s…?) the look Princess has on her face on that bottom panel is priceless.
However Ali, hun, please don’t go around threatening books. Especially ones that are aware of what you are doing.
Ciocie Cioelle Estrella Von Maximus the Third, you are in the presence of Royalty. Capricious, cutting Royalty.
A girl named Frye wore such a Jewel
overalls and bag of tools
I don’t know what she used as fuel.
Some makes deals with devils, Alison resorts to extortion.
Ingsvld is that you?
Princess seeks mischief it seems, and revels in the confusion of others!
“Coup.”
That says it all, really.
The art of cutting.
Princess’ smug smile in the penultimate panel is the best.
HA!
She is the true King and true Royality. Successors are not chosen, they take their role. Headless King made no mistake.
Big Angel killed the demonic car.
*ways to propel ships. This fool shouldn’t query the cosmos on a lack of sleep.
Excuse you, I come from one of those supposed backwaters. Some places don’t have all that many, okay? And there isn’t much travel through the portals. And we managed to colonize a nearby planet with that “primitive” stuff, so there!
Those scissors are just getting more and more epic. Forget the sword!
Don’t be so tsundere, Cio.
And Cio’s book is like “What are you going to do with those scissors?” XD
The dreaded editor appears! She’s super effective against fan fiction!
Unfortunately I can be neither sure nor certain.
The irregular white lines that AL-YIS-UN emits on occasion, is it trembling or rising power?
I’m inclined to believe the former, but as I said earlier, surety and certainty are beyond my grasp.
Trembling, almost certainly. Rising power is indicated by flames rising from the key.
I remain impressed.
1. Sticking with this name for a awhile, they were a fun little revolutionary.
2. That comment from Abbadon sounds fairly scandalous considering the results tonight.
3. Never has the title of this little scribble-show been more appropriate.

I mean, did White Chain just pick Allison up, carry her a couple steps, and then put her back down again?
Hard to say what tickles me more: Nyave and her “perfectly normal” infernal machine, or Princess’s weapons-grade smug leer in panel 6.
A crafty queen, she is! Sharp in mind and blade!
Not nice to poke a book in the eye.
So what’s with the quivery arm?
It fulla holes.
‘s got holes in it
Why is this webcomic so good? I do not comprehend!
All the background expressions. All the little subtleties going on. I love everything about this page
The book returns?
Princess! Is there no honor among demons?
Also, book does not want scissors.
The young king learns to cut often to show power
And Cio belatedly realizes that she has created a monster…
She can move her arms remarkable well after having them impaled in multiple places.
Now that I look at it, Cio and Blueberry don’t seem to like this machine.
A mechanism designed to turn the abuse of devils into energy. Sounds like it’d be horrifying to them.
ah… a tyrant in the making….
What does that engine do? It’s not connected to a drive shaft of any kind, and the supports are pitiful-looking for something that could be lifting the ship.
What does it do? It runs the ship!
It harnesses the energy of the unformed Hot Black Flame of Yis’ heart to propel a ship through non-space, via sails.
Why would you need a drive shaft for that?
she has gotten so crafty
A writer without words is a most sorrowful affair.
The former Handmaiden is a mechanic?! Nay an Engineer. She knows the mysteries of the drive and can coax it beyond it’s listed specs.
Though it looks like it needs an overhaul since it seems the devils are leaking.
Nyave really ought to wear those goggles properly in the engine room. She’s already lost one “I” in panel 2; the other will surely follow shortly.
Remember, grammatical safety is not for naught!
Are those vacus needles stick into the devil drive?
Think so. one does tend to want the devils to /stay/ unformed.
That book’s eye doesn’t look to happy for that scissor.
Alice-Un for president 2016
INGSVLD!
Nooooooooooooo!
The look on Princess’ face in the center-bottom panel…
abbadon, coup
or coupe ?
That is the smuggest I’ve seen Princess so far.
Cio, if you allow this to continue, you will not be forgiven. Your crimes are already without number, but for this, you will suffer.
No kidding, cryptic comic commentary. No kidding.
Coup.
The Princess enjoys herself in assisting her Queen.
Ah Allison has cut the devil to the quick!
Look at Princess’s smug face! That’s some potent off-panel friendship Allison has going for her.
Very safe. Perfectly normal.
It seems the question should be “HOW did tha get that?” The “where” Cio surely already knew.
Nyave is so cute.
History is not what has happened, but what the Royalty has chosen as worthy to be seen by the future.
The weight of anything desirable can be lifted by a broken arm, for the desire of the desirable is to be possessed!
I’m in love with look on Princess’s face.
oh no! her fanfics!
On some worlds they probably use a variant of Maxwell’s Demon as actual nanites.
Wow, a new page! Got addicted to you comic! Really cool and unusual setting, keep doing that! Wish you best inspiration! Regards.
Oh ho ho, the smugness in this page…
The smugness in this page!
Princess’s revenge, act 1.
Good friend Ingsvld, do you know this book?
Ah cliques with in cliques…What a devil won’t do to f#*k over another devil…
Have I not been paying attention? Where did the book come from?
It’s Cio’s, we last saw it… on the way to the Palace? i think.
We see the Geas Knight continues having a hard time of things. Rest assured your trials will be duly observed and noted.
That’s not INGSVLD, just his kin.
Your statement is technically accurate–I am going through some trying times indeed right now, after what happened in Mottom’s palace. But while I may have had some temporary difficulties regarding my head, I did not lose so poorly as to fall into Ciocie’s clutches.
To the surprise of none, condescending to a King works out poorly for the supercilious party.
AL-YISUN has been improving her ability to cut. I’d be concerned about the book too.
Devils: The nanites of the KSBD world(s)
“How does that thing work?”
“Devils!”
“How do devils work?”
“…devils?”
Infinitely recursive devils all the way down
Hah! Dark spirits, devil liquor. A masterful pun indeed, Preem Abaddon.
COUP.
She wields those scissors like a sword.
Coups are my trigger. PUNISH. THE. DECEIVER!
Why did Zoss, choose, in all of creation, our dear Allyson? He knows her better than she knows herself. And he knows there are many such, but why not her? To trust and to allow are hearty skills
that take great rhythm and a steady hand.
Slow your heart and you will act more freely.
Devil drive fuel! The only fuel made for devils, by devils, OUT OF devils!
Lesson of rulership #317: gratitude only goes so far.
The embarassing fan-fic is revealed.

As they embraced in a fashion which I, dear reader, blush to relate, Cio felt her erotically significant zones quivering with a tempestuous passion they had never quivered with before.
Oh no she’s an engineer aaaaand I’m in love. IT KEEPS HAPPENING.
Devil energy is very safe and normal you say? I think I’ve heard that one somewhere else. . .and then followed the rip and tear.
