I sense a great deal of maneuvering will happen between our two former Ebons.
Just because they are diminished in stature does not mean they are diminished in skill or deviltry. Our Godking Ascendant will surely learn much of handling her Court from wrangling the shenanigans of these two volatile yet safely de-militarized powerhouses.
I have wondered often at the amazing unlikelihood of TWO fallen Ebons arriving in the Godking’s Circle. It seems to me that the Non-Causal Hand of Old Zoss may be at work here, providing yet more tutelage for his unlikely, and perhaps unexpected, successor.
Al-Yis-Un seems to have learned much from the Evil Queen’s bad example.
Actually I’m curious about that- devil’s have a (for lack of a better word) biology that is nothing like anything else we know of. And when the individual types were described a while back, it almost seemed like they had shifts in personality along with their colors.
I think it’s reasonable (although at this point just a theory) that a devil’s mental attributes and inclinations shift around with their physical form.
It is a sad day when I feel sympathy for an unbound devil, but I take comfort in the knowledge that they are not properly sapient. That said, the delighted grin on Princess-who-was-Vladok ‘ s face is a thing to behold. Our Rising King is not messing around.
While one should not judge a book by its cover, one should at least look at the cover before declaring the name of the book. That is not me, but one of my brethren who has fallen upon unfortunate circumstances.
Seeing as how a books ‘backside’ is actualy called a spine, and that this book is quite massive one wonders if a smaller book would have hade less of a metaphorical spine as much as it has less of an actual spine
It would only make sense that the only way one could be able to lift something from someone that used to be a Ebon Devil, was someone else who was also a Ebon Devil.
But regardless, I’m almost a little surprised at our dear Al-YIS-UN. I did not think her to be this… Ruthless? Callous? Some other word like that towards someone who has “Saved thy pretty arse at least twice now”.
Ah. but, how am I suppose to know anything about these matters? I’ve only recently discovered the comic about a month ago.
When so many (who have no reason to be your friends) have latched onto you, the new guy, you need to find out what they want. What they REALLY want. Cio is an obviously facile liar.
On the contrary, Al-Yis-Un is not being ruthless, nor callous, here.
Mottom’s greatest fear was being consumed by her court of rapscallions and vandals. That is because she failed, in her Glory, to bring them firmly to heel.
Here we see Al-Yis-Un, the Godking Ascendant, taking firm steps to avoid the trap into which Mottom fell. Lo, the Godking will not be manipulated, dissembled with, or slighted by her Court!
That way lies the rotting madness of Queen Mottom, and surely, Al-Yis-Un does not wish to take that dark and miserable path.
Thus, she does firmly establish her proper place, namely, that of Royalty.
AL-YIS-UN is slowly accepting her status as Royalty. A hallmark of Royalty in this multiverse is total certainty; a complete lack of doubt in ones actions. If an obstacle gets in the way of your desires, cut it so that it is no more.
Being Royalty does not entail being considerate, empathetic or even particularly cerebral. One can draw ones own conclusions as to whether such a state is worthwhile.
Beside changing fast, Nyave is also very quick with gloves.
No glove on her left hand in panel 1, glove on in panel 2 (with good reason I might say), and in panel 3 her left hand is un-gloved once more!
On this cursed day.
When I am filled with terror.
This is the best thing that has happened.
Same…
THIS.
Hark!
Betrayal amongst the Blue Imps!

Good for her.

Ebons were listed as most dangerous because of their age, experience, power, and obvious exceptional cunning (to even make it to Ebon).
Blues were listed as more useful, but also one of the most dangerous to bind, as they were known for their cleverness and guile.
Ah already indulging in needless cruelty, blackmail and catty behaviour. You’ll make a fine ruler Allison.
I once had a master who was an actual cat, and believe you me none have ever held a candle to him in terms of cruelty and catty behavior.
does “he” refer to the master or the cat?
Both. I had wound up, due to the antics of my sixteenth master, bound to a housecat. Not one of my prouder moments.
Princess looks awfully smug in the second to last panel.
You would be too if you were airing a rival’s dirty secrets in public.
To smile in the twenty-fourth way is a practice known as “grinching.”
Looks like you’re missing a few angel needles there. I wonder what those do?
It is a sad day when I feel sympathy for an unbound devil, but I take comfort in the knowledge that they are not properly sapient. That said, the delighted grin on Princess-who-was-Vladok ‘ s face is a thing to behold. Our Rising King is not messing around.
Heheheh. This is gonna be embarrassing for Cio, interesting for us ^^
It sure looks like it runs instead on pocky…
…is that INGSVLD’s head?

REACH HEAVEN THROUGH SMUGNESS
Man, that is one chill book. It doesn’t look nervous about Allison waving those scissors around AT ALL.
That takes one heck of a spine.
Seeing as how a books ‘backside’ is actualy called a spine, and that this book is quite massive one wonders if a smaller book would have hade less of a metaphorical spine as much as it has less of an actual spine
Devils, son.
What can’t they do?
I spot the smuggest blueberry of them all.
You also pushed her off a cliff Pree Cio. I tried that once and wound up incorporated into one of these very devil engines for nearly a decade.
Princess looks incredibly smug here.
Aggressive editing!? Surely, this is cruel and unusual punishment.
This seemed like a much better idea before she realized that she could only speak the local cant, not read the runes.
Do you think space boat has space for passengers? There’s a certain little nation on an inconsequential globe I need a one ticket outta from ASAP
Nyave is like, the Hermione of Kill Six Billion Demons.

Welcome, “Jake”.

Oooh, I really like that engine. (I like engines)
INGVSLD? Is that you? *cackles*
Royalty is a continuous cutting motion
Oh good Lord(s…?) the look Princess has on her face on that bottom panel is priceless.
However Ali, hun, please don’t go around threatening books. Especially ones that are aware of what you are doing.
