KSBD 3-46 (MAGUS GATE/KING’S DOOR)
Chapter: 3
“Let the ruling king always keep a clown about him and on his council, and let the fool babble on what he like, and relentless mock the king and all his grand and royal plans and designs at the idiot’s discretion. For there is no greater councilor than one who will clearly speak truth to folly.”
– “Fifteen ways of ruling”, DE 1559, attributed to Au, the Pankrator of the Yellow City of Vesh.
Is this what we saw way back in the beginning? A magus gate being opened. The war of conquest beginning anew, sanctified with the blood of a King. Or mayhaps the war was never stopped, merely delayed whilst the Kings cried “NEVERMORE”. And once the last of them could cry nomore, then the war was resumed.
Is this an old conquest or a new?
Oh… shit. Oh, SHIT.
Go not through a Gate with a cracked arch, unless you seek the shadow of the universe.
Seek not the shadow of the universe, unless you desire oneness with what is not.
Desire not oneness with what is not, unless you are enlightened, for the enlightened do as they will.
Oh my gosh, that background artwork. Amazes me. Every. Time.
You’ve built an amazing mythos Abbadon, I’m utterly in love with the world you’ve created.
Wow, I had seen one of the panels from this in a forum signature so on a lark I did a google image on it, great stuff, almost wish I had found it later so I could keep reading more!
“Yet the greatest have no need for killing at all.”
So, Batman.
For they have none who need to die.
Does batman really have no need for killing or does he actually have a need for not killing?
Some would argue Batman has a need for killing and chooses to deny it.
Look along the bottom. There, the being being prayed upon by the three roughshod travellers and attended upon by a Peregrine Knight. There stands a Black King with a Crown of Heaven. Go, go and talk to him. Reveal to him your Magus Gate and feel no surprise as the Black King tears the Key out of your pretty skull.
Here they met their supplicants, upon the land and in the air, as the tears of the ruined and renovated continued to be wept into suffocating pools beneath their feet. Their objective was not to pursue dominion, but rather to bring dominion back to kneel at their altar.
Though it was well past time for both prayer and supper, pleas of either sort had settled upon the tongues of the unworthy, and were preparing once more to take flight. A passerby, quite unaware of the followers’ hunger or the purpose he would soon serve himself, had at the same time just become unprepared to bathe them with boiling gruel.
One thing that troubles me, how many keys were made? One by each King? Or did some abstain? Or could it be that some Kings made more than one? Could the keys have their purpose nulled and thus top being keys, and if so, how many were treated in this manner?
What is the answer to what is the question?
Simply gorgeous!!
And so the cat-footed Stranglers perched atop the foundations of the Magus’ Gate, and cackled discrete obscenities at passerbyes, pretending at wisdom. Observing the mundanities of travellers from their lofty rests. Grinning, for their teeth relished being seen.
“Give great praise to the Lord, and little Laud to the devil” takes an entirely new meaning if not form here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archibald_Armstrong https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Laud
I am devouring this comic. Allow me to confess that, for a long time, i wished to create a world of divine kings and surreal miracles with aesthetics inspired by esotheric buddhism imagery and asura’s wrath. A world of gilded palaces, starving sages and pious machines. In a way, you beat me to it, and i’m so greatly pleased that you did, for the result is amazing.
“15 ways of ruling”: ancient sage advice or annoying listicle?
