“I knew God back in high school.”
“Really? What was that like?”
“Kind of awful. I should have killed him when I had the chance, tbh.”
“…yeah, probably.”
Of the differing types of vermin, I find snakes and rats the most fascinating, as they possess a low cunning heretofore seen only in the greatest of men. I keep a snake with me at all times, so as to study its thoughts and emulate them. Arthropods are mindless and boring, but make for a fine meal when food is scarce. The worst and most useless vermin of all, of course, is the person who does not seek to make their desire into reality. They possess no cunning, and taste disgusting.
What good is not hesitating when taking action would not lead to a result that you favor? If you have little stake in the outcome, it is best to stand at a safe distance and observe. And learn from observing.
Time wasted striking without thought, gaining no memory and achieving nothing of value is time truly wasted.
I could read an entire series just about Maya honestly – I’ve been loving every scrap of info/backstory we get on her, so the last few pages have been a real treat.
Oh how naive and foolish Maya is. Were this her story, perhaps that would have been the lesson Meti wished to teach. But rather, this is Incubus’ story, who in turn is part of a much larger story – one which I doubt will end well for those named here.
Maya’s comments are odd here, in that she states that did not want to take a life… but didn’t she beg to learn the way of the sword? For years?
And before Incubus’ new do, wasn’t she off to join the army?
What did she think she was going to be doing, exactly? Certainly the army would give her reasons for the killing… but there would still, almost certainly, be killing.
Maya’s goal would be to use the sword on her enemies. The rat was not an enemy. Many who thirst for power wish to use it ‘wiser’ than those who have it. Protection of the innocent is a common conceit. These ideals either cut into or are cut off by the student, with time.
Killing and having the power to kill are two seperate things. Originally Maya wanted the latter, and not for its own sake but in order to earn respect.
To cut, this is Royalty. But in cutting, you must shape something greater. To cut indiscriminately, this is Tyranny, which leaves naught but jagged shards to mortify you.
I’m not saying this page’s writing isn’t up to the usual standards, but as far as subtext goes I didn’t need this explained. Gods are animals, your co-student is an animal, yadda yadda.
I would cut down a peer for my own rat kin. Such misunderstood creatures- I’ve studied them closely. I often feel my purpose on this earth (if I have one) is making humans question their hatred for these tiny, clever beasts.
This is a smart blog. I mean it. You have so much knowledge about this issue, and so much passion. You also know how to make people rally behind it, obviously from the responses.
I would like to thank you for the efforts you have made in writing this article. I am hoping the same best work from you in the future as well. Thanks…

“Who has lost this exchange?”
I’m pretty sure that it’s the rat…
Would you rather a rat be king of swords? Bah, what difference is there between vermin?
Flavour.

The real lesson was the friends we made along the way.
and unmade
Made into ghosts
Damn, holy shit
To hesitate is to lose precious time. Time lost is one step closer to death

But a time will come when you cant just stand back and observe. Then you’ll need to move without losing the tiniest grain of the sands of time
Hrmm… Always remember: the longer you live, the sooner you’ll bloody-well die.

Another powerful page. And a red devil under the bell, nice touch.

I ship it.
The Sanctioned Action is To Cut
It matters little who the victim is
If only she had struck then. Then Pree Allison wouldn’t been in half the mess she currently is in.
You could also pick up the rat.
Ah!
To make a decision requires the complete dedication of yourself to that decision.
If one is not willing or capable of following through all consequences of said decision, then it is nothing but a shell.

And this is the truth of the Sword Law: He who strikes true, strikes first decides the Law.

Oh? No matter where they go? ‘Cause everybody knows they’re just a couple animals.
If you are not saying it, then you should not say it.
Words can be cut as easily as rats.
Royalty kills with every thought, gesture, and word. Death is the shadow of Power. The wise are merely selective as to where their shadow falls.
I see the battle between the Gods has reached the “flailing punches” stage. Truly, a display worthy of immortals.
Epic. Rat Gets OWNED Thanks
Poor rat, truly he was the most pure character in all of this.
