Curious. For one who is said to be omniscient, knowing of the future, to appear as one can only assume to be a warning of what is to come, seems to be a useless gesture. Mortal beings of these planes seem to be prone to gaining near-omniscient Sight and attempting in futility to render it false. It begs the question as to what sort of Future Sight is possessed by the blue demiurge. For a being that occupies a fixed – or rather, consistently progressing position – in time, the ability of Future Sight would normally be assumed to be of such a nature as to grant the wielder sight of a singular possibility. True All Sight would be the ability to see into all possible futures, regardless of ones’ ability to choose which future they will consciously occupy. The point being thus: are the actions of the blue demiurge pointless, or may they yet bear fruit? Is the suffering of the “All-Knowing” to know all that may happen and be powerless to stop it, or simply to know all that may happen and be incapable of housing such a magnitude of knowledge?
More immediately, pointless or not, what would be the motivations of this action? Simple heraldry of a cataclysm approaching? An attempt at acknowledging an alliance, however shaky, once possessed between the demiurges, in the face of the rise of the Red God, even if the manifestation of this is simply to warn of his coming, if indeed he is the one who comes? Questions, questions, asked of the void. If there be answers to find, We shall Observe.
My bet is Jadis is here to help Solomon against Jaggy, mostly because she’s the only one we haven’t seen plotting (Incubus, Gog Agog) or infighting (Mottom, Mammon). Let’s see what those last two will do…
You speak of the future as singular. There are many futures branching out over and over again eternally. It is only as you pass unfulfilled futures and the possibilities dwindle do you have a clear idea of what is likely to come. Unfortunately sometimes this leaves you with very little warning.
42 Fragments the Universe Beyond All Reintegration
Jadis is probably the only other demiurge who might want to promote Jagannoth’s omnicide. This is because (as Abaddon said, on Tumblr) she sincerely wants to die.
I assume that Incubus is actually planning to subvert and defeat the omnicide. It’s hard to be powerful (or to be hard for being powerful) when you’re dead.
So it’s more subtle than just “OMGs Jaggy do something save us all”. Jadis has a conscience; or she sees a way to heal and live again; or she sees something worse than death approaching; or the immediate threat is something other than Jaggapocolypse; or …
I see time as a fixed and linear, acting as an extra dimension where three-dimensional objects travel through. If Jadis was able to break the laws of physics and observe that linear path she maybe able to divert it with whatever little influence she has left in this dimension, granting her the ability to shape the course of time.
Also, I love the fact that her name is “long ago” in French.
I really didn’t expect the Jadis Inquisition. But who does?
Whelp. Apparently the storyline is less about the proper way to administer a drastic change of regime and more about imminent nuclear doom.
I can live with this.
Still hoping Solomon won’t kick the bucket, but if the appearance of the yet-unfailed oracle puts him in such a distress, I guess things are getting pear shaped quite soon.
Solomon, as any dictator who does not want to think of themselves as such, moves to stall for time in the language of “reasonable concerns”.
While the arrival of Jadis heralds nothing good, I’m sure, it it oddly gratifying to see the disingenuous language of caution and gradual reform implode upon itself so rapidly.
I mean if he just up and left, the entire empire would fall apart within the year. And he’s been wanting to leave the position for quite some time now.
There was this world, created, ruled and protected by an omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent God for God was in everything in the creation. Everyone was cared for and loved. But perhaps, God said, I didn’t create all this just to make complacent servants, I have no need for servants or even any needs at all, perhaps I made this just to see it and myself grow beyond what I truly am.
So God suddenly shuts everyone out God’s presence and leave them to their own devices.
That world is still in strife today, as one being still kill another one over resources, ideas or just plain pleasure. Perhaps one day they will grow beyond it, perhaps the people there will kill themselves first. But that wasn’t God’s concern anymore, for God just could easily make another iteration of the world, maybe it would be better, maybe not, but it certainly won’t be the same.
Everyone all concerned about Solomon showing emotion on his face for once, and here I am having lost it at the poor guard above his head in the middle panel, that man has the perfect face of “dear lord I am not prepared for any of this shit”
She might not be the cause, but rather here to warn Solomon of something.
Why somebody with perfect future knowledge would wait until the last minute is a little uncertain. Maybe she had a change of heart, or maybe somebody actually figured out a way to snow her, and she’s suddenly in ‘react as things happen’ mode.
One clue lies perhaps in her nature. Of the 7 Sins, she embodies Sloth. In my head, I’ve worked it out that shes actually like (ITS JUST A COMPARISON) Sans from Undertale. They can see the future, or atleast multiple possible futures, and that drives them towards inaction, because it can be pretty daunting to act with so much information. Whats the point in acting, since in 14,000,604 out of 14,000,605 possible futures she looks at, it ends in Jagganoth’s omnicide? I think its also similar to other characters, like Dr. Manhattan, who is detached from the here and now due to his foresight, or like Garnet from Steven Universe, who also feels crippled with knowledge of what will happen, or the several scenarios of what could happen.
Wait is Solomon sweating or is his skin erupting in boils? I was thinking this is Jagganoth’s moment because red light, but now wondering if it’s Gog-Agog’s after all.
Always a treat to see Jadis in all her frozen, shriveled glory. While I appreciate Salami Dave’s attempt to save his people, Thunderdome 2.0 by itself is pretty well packed. There will be casualties.
Television static is white noise, mas o menos. White noise is random or, to the point, can be pseudorandom optimally encoded information. That, actually, is what even current human communication systems do. So it makes sense that Jadis speaks in hiss, but the receiver needs to know how to decode the hiss. That would be other demiurges, like Solomon D., I think.
Theory: Jadis was waiting for Solomon David’s resolve to waver, even for the tiniest second. She felt it through whatever gifts she has and came directly to him; methinks she may hold a grudge against our Monarch, if that’s the case.
Waiting for Solomon’s resolve to falter is necessary to convince him of anything. He’s the diamond, unchanging, stuck in his ways and sure of his own wisdom trumping all. The only way to convince him that his own visions and plans were wrong is to do so when he’s humbled by an event directly proving his visions and plans wrong – in this case, White Chains ascension and victory.

It actually means “witch” in Turkish xD
A time-“controlling” witch, fucking sick af

Gotta wonder where the 108 Pursuer stars are
Oh dear. There certainly is a sudden red glow. So much for discovering whether or not the emperor is going to peacefully step down.
Perhaps we’ll see when this threat is dealt with.
If this threat is dealt with.
Can’t be no power vacuum if it’s all full of JAGGANOTH

That’s a whole lotta projection you got going on there.

or this is exactly when she was to appear.
Always hard to tell with these omnescient types, especially ones who haven’t made their desires particularly apparant.
Maybe this was the first moment that Solomon actually would have heeded her warning, so she acted as soon as she was able to do so effectively?
One clue lies perhaps in her nature. Of the 7 Sins, she embodies Sloth. In my head, I’ve worked it out that shes actually like (ITS JUST A COMPARISON) Sans from Undertale. Oh wait Jadis’ eyes are red too, maybe the light is coming from them? Ugh LOL I hate having to wait until Friday.
His face in the second to last panel also looks like Gog agog, maybe he was infected after getting cut?
oh god oh fuck
Well, I didn’t see that coming.
You might even say it’ll be your last surprise!
BUT NOW, THERE IS JADIS!
Ice cold, baby.
Always a treat to see Jadis in all her frozen, shriveled glory. While I appreciate Salami Dave’s attempt to save his people, Thunderdome 2.0 by itself is pretty well packed. There will be casualties.
I’m just imagining that Jadis’ hissing noise sounds like television static…
Television static is white noise, mas o menos. White noise is random or, to the point, can be pseudorandom optimally encoded information. That, actually, is what even current human communication systems do. So it makes sense that Jadis speaks in hiss, but the receiver needs to know how to decode the hiss. White noise is the echo of the big bang that birthed this universe in a violent explosion.
So that’s actually pretty appropiate.
