BREAKER OF INFINITIES 4-180
Chapter: 4
“When it comes to so-called ‘immortals’, do not fear them. Those that call themselves by such a title have purged themselves of the most useful and primal their brain, the parts that remember the cold fear, the old night, the teeth in the dark. The swordsman should be a great friend to fear and pain, so when they inevitably find him, he will not collapse at their remembrance, like a pathetic mewling thing, as I have seen these majestic godlings do.”
-Ryo-ten-Ryam
Godspeed
You! Seven Black Emperors.
There goes the indie creed…
she’s only got one skinny fist to lift
That’s she is missing her dominant hand isvonly a slight concern I’d a mood
She has taken the Left Hand Path…
Four pages back, when she said “It’ll carry me out of here, one foot in front of the other”, I had a good laugh.
Tis only a flesh wound.
“Your arm’s off!”
“No it isn’t!”
“Well what’s that then?”
“I’ve had worse.”
“You liar!”
“Come on then, you pansy!”
Monty Python references, the true Universal Metaconstant.
Monty Python, highly regarded for doing the unexpected and unpredictable, quoted verbatim, decades later. There’s a sad irony there.
yeah, did she pogo stick all the way out here? I’m lost
Al-Yisun is a goddess. As such, I think she can walk just fine, irrespective of any limb requirements you or I might have.
In that regard, think of the right arm she still bears.
And if she thinks about that, her missing right arm may become Bears.
The risk of ultimate power is that idle thoughts, jokes, and puns can become literal.
she’s probably hovering mostly
She says that she is done taking advice from corpses whilst looking down on a city of corpses. I wonder what she’ll do next?
While one may live in a corpse, use it as bus or battle transport, of have your favorite noodle shop in one that does not mean you are twking advice from them.
Also one may heed the warning a specific corpse may provide but that is still not taking advice.
Keep in mind the King of Kings is also a corpse. She’s done with them all, which I suppose means she’s that much closer to royalty!
probably not take their advice
What will we she do next? Well she will probably KILL SIX BILLION DEMONS
I don’t know what the population of Throne is at the moment, but I have a feeling that it is going to decrease.
Rapidly.
Allison’s greatest strength and greatest weakness is her living in the moment.
Such is the nature of ROYALTY.
The past is a memory and the future is lies or guesswork.
May as well beat the crap out of some gods before you have a chance to think about how foolish what you are doing is!
Down a right leg, down a right arm, and missing a right eye.
This will surely be a one-sided war indeed.
Ouch.
But she has gained a right hand man
Guess she’ll have to make do with what’s left.
*Slow claps*
What is the sound of one hand clapping?
Yea, but she has no right to do so.
No, she’s clearly All-left, my guy.
All-Left-Son
….
That actually made me laugh.
Just… Wow.
In the land of corpses, the one eyed, one armed, one legged woman is king.
The one-eyed,
one-armed,
flying royal people puncher
It appears she is simply built different.
this seems to be the case.
we await more details.
“This is the story of my life
And I write it everyday
I know it isn’t black and white
And it’s anything but grey
I know that no I’m not alright, but I feel ok cos
Anything can, everything can happen
That’s the story of my life”
– A psalm by Preem Bon Jovi
When you’re going through hell, keep going, and eventually you’ll find yourself in a better place.
That’s the problem with fancy healthcare.
Costs an arm and a leg, and the aftercare makes you go blind in one eye.
Really though, she should practice some red art to make herself new limbs.
Hopefully she can break the cycle and put an end to this American-style healthcare.
>she should practice some red art to make herself new limbs.
Soo much yes to this. I commented on this , i wanna say yes to that again so much ! We shown she can do fruits. Biological , living matter. Its not even too far from here to making meat and bones , as in regrowing limbs and stuff !
Red Art is achieved only by reading Karl Marx.
Fully enchanted golem powered magical communism – go !
Who knows, Allison -being the wheel breaking king she is- may even find a way to lie to the universe so convincingly that the black art manifests and she never lost her limbs to begin with, and she has her whole normal body left.
“Nah, but I’ll be okay” is something I wish every person with depression could say, always.
Do you think all those blue triangle guys are going to be okay?
I dunno, they received acute injuries.
Don’t be obtuse. I’m sure they are all right.
That’s certainly one angle you could take.
all these triangle jokes are a sin
I think they’re a just cos
What’s with you guys all going off on this tangent?
“Every triangle is a love triangle when you love triangles” – Pythagoras
I think there was a pun there… I’ve almost got it… just give me a secant…
This is getting ridiculous. I’m going to grab my cotan go.
Yeah it feels like we’re getting off on a tangent here
More like 2/3 of ison
its a flesh wound she’ll be fine
i just noticed that her scars came back when she activated her powers again, really cool mirror to the scene where she puts her makeup on talking about them feeling like a part of her <3
Yep, I suspected she was recovering her regular body scars when those power streaks appeared across her body but this shot confirms it. Be interesting to know how she’s displayed all this amazing raw power though. I’m uncertain if it’s something she gained in the triple merging and hasn’t used until now, something she’s been studying and working towards during the past years of seclusion or if she simply had an epiphany and it unlocked some things that were holding her back.
Whatever the case, this feels like she’s actually on a level to compete with the Demiurges which we’ve only seen when she was triple merged with Cio and Whitechain.
Kishōtenketsu is four-act Japanese storytelling. One believes we have just seen our protagonist have her epiphany (act 3 / the ‘ten’ / twist) with Jadis, the Machine, and Zaid all contributing. Dénouement / ketsu awaits …
Fear not Allison, for in war, it doesn’t matter who’s right… it only matters who’s LEFT. And you are ALL that is “left”.
True power is to cut the wheel.
Isn’t Koss a corpse as well?
All-Yisun: Flip your sprite ====>
We’ve really come full cycle. From the comic starting on the MSPA boards, to her final form bearing resemblance to a certain agent…
The circle! Pure, infertile!
Which agent is that?
I see where Meti gets her lyrical verve from.
So how much destruction was there? I can’t make out the scale of it. Does anything of the pyramid remain?
Allison melted a huge gash in the side of the pyramid, but the pyramid is itself so much huger that it seems mostly intact.
Iä! Iä!
It seems out heroine is learning a very intricate fact of life, in my experience “dead men tell no tales worth listening to.” it is a proverb from my home and I find it applies here.
All men are “dead men”.
I’m still not sure why she needed to remove the prosthetics.
well she wanted to, mostly
Because she was choosing to live like she had in the past instead of accepting who and what she is in the present. The prosthetics were a physical easement but a mental and spiritual hindrance. Accepting the illusion of not being whole. What difference do false limbs make to a god? They would never truly be part of the whole and, therefore, would get in the way.
I think it was less about the prosthetics per se and more about rejecting Jadis in a very dramatic and visceral way. I could be wrong, but I don’t really see Allison pogo sticking everywhere for the rest of the story so I’m expecting she’s probably going to get some new prosthetics of her own (with blackjack and hookers!).
They weren’t presented as prosthetics.
It would have been very different if when Alison had woken up Jadis had said they had needed to make prosthetics for her. But Jadis said they were her arm and leg regrown, that they were her body.
They were a lie and violation, and that’s what Alison was rejecting. We see in the cover art for this chapter that Alison prosthetic arm and most likely leg. Having prosthetics is not what she rejects. She rejects the denial of her choices and the truth of who she is.
That’s right–it’s poetry, dammit!
