What have we seen that suggests Allison is being held prisoner? Jadis has brought her back to life and tried to get her to eat, hardly the act of a captor. If this intruder thinks himself a rescuer, he may be greatly mistaken.
I have a belated, completely improbable guess/hope about what the two swords in markedly different aesthetics could mean.
Is there ANY chance that our rescuer / masked Zaid has brought Sword!WhiteChain and Sword!Cio to save Allison because their enduring white and black flames were preserved as / forged into swords?
Gaging of the earlobes would just lead to them flopping against the head, be ugly. And most importantly, an infection hazard for someone who gets stuck behind enemy lines. But the rest of the look? Just fine.
You’re right, I’m sure Abaddon just overlooked that they are “ugly” and wouldn’t have added them otherwise.
Just as well you caught it, I can’t think of anything else about the look of this guy wearing a one-eyed full face mask that is in any way less than perfectly practical.

She is held prisoner by what Jadis showed her and by Sloth, the sin Jadis represents, so it is at least metaphorically true.
Stop saying he was ended rightly! Ending him rightly would be stabbing him, which is the right way to use a sword. By definition he was ended wrongly.
