That’s why you need another caster in the party who can counter their counter. How strong is your will, after all, if you can’t even manage insisting against objection?
Allison’s action economy here is just abysmal. Using her primary action to dash and quickening plane-shift really left her with no options. So much for those Monk levels.
Oh shit, looks like Allison will have to learn to not lean on the Key’s power the hard way.
Makes sense really, there had to be a way to stop Key bearers just dimension jumping at the first sign of trouble to whittle them down to just the 8 we know of.
We know of eleven former and current key wielders who are still active, or at least were as of last night, and another who only died in the last few years.
So there’s the seven (each with the seven-part key to their worlds). All other demiurges are presumed dead, including Zoss who I think you mean with the dead guy. The emissaries of the current demiurges I don’t count here.
Then there’s Allison (current master key), Cio (former part-key from Mammon) and Maya (key status unknown).
bolas is very much not an uber-competent villian, he’s just got some huge advantages and is good at selling his own fanatical belief that he is utterly infallible
ultimately that liliana is the one who kicks down his whole plan is due to the story they wanted to tell about her and gideon. it does demonstrate one of bolas’ blind spots, but it’s not a terribly deep or interesting one.
On the one hand this means we might actually get to see noodle lady do something. On the other hand that’s just rude. On the third hand, I love that book. Upon the remaining hands are things I either can not see, can not discern, can not identify, can not comprehend, can not describe, or simply wish never to speak of.
The Red God stole the sun-lightning from his quarry, and shackled them to the earth. So great is is might that he is as a singularity upon the firmament, the nullity that draws all things to itself.
AY-YAT!
My kin were once subject to annihilation by a rival system. In order to fight back, we fled and hopped across the heavens. It was an effective strategy at first… but they were more advanced… tracing our trails with their superior technology.
We were trapped into a corner the moment they deployed jump interdictors. Never before was there a battle of such magnitude during the war.
Yeah as I remember seeing it in the somewhat boring introductory tale by White Chain the Key’s have to be. physically pulled from ones skull to be taken. Yabalchoath stole a fraction of Mammons flame at one point but he definitely still had his actual key. This just seems like a counterspell
42 Fragments the Universe Beyond All Reintegration
My thoughts exactly. Bad teamwork aside, it’s revealing that the other six can’t even keep Jagganoth busy.
Seems their calculation that the six could keep the one in check was badly misguided.
I’m honestly waiting for the others to find out about Allison’s contract-of-sorts with Incubus. Watch them ask her what she was thinking having ANY obligations to a tyrant king, and become varying degrees of pissed of at her.
Or they could understand that desperate times call for desperate measures and he’s arguably one of the less dickish of the seven. Idk. I’m not writing this.
42 Fragments the Universe Beyond All Reintegration
There is a potential scene where Allison tells White Chain about Incubus, White Chain tells Allison about Metatron, and they go totally non-linear at each other. I have pre-ordered tickets for that.
It seems like our dear friend Jagganoth is having issues restraining the power in his hand, given his mild shaking. Of course it could be his will exerting itself on the swords.
Oh shit. Initially I even thought that Jagganoth managed to steal the Key from the distance and thought something like “What the hell?”, but apparently he is just a master of some Distant Vacuus Needle Nindjutsu. Still pretty much damned impressive, The guy is epic, and it’s a pity he is apparently misguided.
P.S. Actually believed we are goung to have just congratulating Cristmas/Nwew Year picture and another break. Preem Abbadon, thou art truly merciless to thyself.
Shoulda been a little quicker and done it while he was distracted with fighting. Also the other demiurges just fucked their chance to strike while he was concentrating on not letting Allison leave. Just absolutely terrible coordination and tactics from these beings of immense power, which will undoubtedly be their downfall.
So is this a “I’m keeping you nearby because your input will be useful later” sort of deal, or a “The more you struggle the more powerful I become” sort of deal?
I think he just wants the key and won’t let her leave with it. I don’t think anyone at the demiurge level cares much about Allison as a person, except for Incubus who seems fond of her in an annoying little sister kind of way.
That’s the nice thing about being invulnerable: you can aford to simply ignore the people attacking you and turn your attention to other things. Hope he’s not going to use those swords on Allison’s party.
Panels 4 and 5 are particularly lovely drawings of Allison. The ladies in this comic always look adorable when startled. (Grasping at inconsequentialities as reaction to the ghastliness of the current events.)
I hesitated to point it out, but since you brought it up… that certainly is DEM. If Jagger can do that (and Zoss knows what else), he could have taken the dingus from Allison long ago in some situation where he didn’t have to fight the other cosmic baboons at the same time. I realize that some reason has to be presented for why Allison can’t just port everybody out of this mess or the scene would be over, and nobody wants that.
Yeah, thougth the same. We’ll see, I just enjoy this and it’s brutal, but I’m having a hard time understanding (or accepting?) the power level variation
Except, so far as I can remember, Allison has not tried to teleport in his presence before. He hasn’t taken anything from her, just interrupted her use of her key.
Well, this certainly brings up questions about Jagganoth’s plan. If he’s stopping Allison so he can take the master key from her, why did he bother to engage the other demiurges here at all? If that isn’t it, why DOES he care if she leaves? In what way is she really “the crux of this matter?”
I wonder if he actually did just steal (some amount of) her key’s power, and he contrived this situation because for some reason he COULDN’T do it just by killing her another time?
42 Fragments the Universe Beyond All Reintegration
1. It was too soon in his plan to strike. Incubus thinks it’s still too soon.
2. He didn’t want to attack her specifically in Throne because reasons. Maybe he doesn’t want to fight an army of pissed-off angels.
3. He needs Allison to wield the key for him. Why he couldn’t do it himself is obscure, but then we don’t know exactly what he wants to do. If the power he’s just stolen melts his magic swords and sets fire to his glove then that would be a strong hint.
4. He didn’t know he could take Allison. He might have assumed that the Successor would be stronger. Then White Chain defeats her and Solomon defeats White Chain and his minions are telling him “Boss you gotta see this!” and he knows he can take Solomon and *dooommm* serious face-palm.
Up until now I thought the demiurges were allowing Allison to keep the key of kings because they didn’t think she could use it. None of them took it for themselves because that would have started the war again, so letting her keep it (and away from Zaid, who everyone else thinks is Zoss’ heir, and who therefore could learn to use it) was a kind of compromise among them. Well, the war has started, Ziad is right there with Allison, and it’s time to up the stakes. At least, that’s my read of how Jaggy sees it.
So you can hide but you can’t run. No, strike that, you can’t hide either. The Arum Atum comment suggests that He Can See You hiding in the ice forest. And he can attack at range.
So *talk* to the man. At this stage, it can’t hurt.
I was in a similar situation once. I was outmatched and my travelling companions outclassed. From but a single blow, a dear friend of mine was nearly on the brink of collapse, holding on through what I can only imagine to have been a sturdy force of will alone. I invoked an ancient and long-unused power in an attempt to flee, but I, as ever, was a fool. My flight would not be tolerated, and fate would see me punished for the hubris I had demonstrated in trying to make it this far. The heavens themselves railed against my cowardice and the divine words rang out in protest against me: “You can’t run away from Trainer Battles!”
I know I’m nitpicking but in the previous page twas Jag’s right hand that wus glowing wide ominous power and this page starts wid his left hand emitting lightning. Anyhoos, shiz gone down da wire and can’t wait to see how they deal wid this foo.
I really like Thor in the Marvel comics and this Lightning Thief character from your comics is amazing, I hope to more action from him in the upcoming episodes. There are new games this 2021 that is worth playing and one of them is toca world online
Are you the one who draws this comics? It was awesome dude and the story line is getting better each episode. I hope that you will have a budget or sponsors that can help you anime this comics. Good luck in the future!
OH SHIT
Last comic’s Ominous hand lived up to the hype.
FILL YOUR HAND WITH STEEL!
“I filled my pants with… well, not steel.”
Eat more steel.
Energize!
So that’s what Captain Kirk was talking about…
Teleportation cut off and those swords are levitating into what looks to be an attack formation…that’s not good.
Maybe Jagger is going to make a salad… out of Allison and friends.
WHAT A TWIST
Counter-spelling plane-shift? Cheater!
That’s why you need another caster in the party who can counter their counter. How strong is your will, after all, if you can’t even manage insisting against objection?
Allison’s action economy here is just abysmal. Using her primary action to dash and quickening plane-shift really left her with no options. So much for those Monk levels.
Jagganoth is a dirty red/blue player and nothing can convince me otherwise.
To me it sounds more like failing a Con save to maintain concentration.
this strikes me as the sort of thing that can only be defended against with a specifically crafted strategy.
or an unusual ability. i, for example, am categorically immune to such attacks. the name isn’t “8888996 dies to badass boss attacks.”
YOOOOO
nope.avi
[muffled cio shrieking ‘I TOLD THA SOOOOOOO’ in the distance]
Oh dear
Well, fuck you too, Jagganoth.
I think I’m missing one of the 11
So there’s the seven (each with the seven-part key to their worlds). All other demiurges are presumed dead, including Zoss who I think you mean with the dead guy. The emissaries of the current demiurges I don’t count here.
Then there’s Allison (current master key), Cio (former part-key from Mammon) and Maya (key status unknown).
Who am I missing?
No, Zoss has so far remained active despite his death. I meant Hastet Om, who technically only died relatively recently, killed by Allison.
You just haaad to remind us about the man-tree, didn’t you?
Legally speaking? Yes. It’s in my contract.
when the dm starts letting npcs use counter spell 🤦
I don’t need an Immortal Sun to keep people here Bolas, you absolute cretin!
bolas is very much not an uber-competent villian, he’s just got some huge advantages and is good at selling his own fanatical belief that he is utterly infallible
ultimately that liliana is the one who kicks down his whole plan is due to the story they wanted to tell about her and gideon. it does demonstrate one of bolas’ blind spots, but it’s not a terribly deep or interesting one.
That’s cheating, only PCs can use Counterspell.
He is a PC.
He’s the DMPC.
No that’s Zoss.
I think Princess really likes Zaid.
i hope she tops him
protecting your team’s twink mascot is pretty admirable
Few people appreciate how vital the twink mascot is to overall team cohesion.
On the one hand this means we might actually get to see noodle lady do something. On the other hand that’s just rude. On the third hand, I love that book. Upon the remaining hands are things I either can not see, can not discern, can not identify, can not comprehend, can not describe, or simply wish never to speak of.
I’d love to hear more about these things you simply wish to never speak of.
No you would not. You merely wish to because you do not know what they are.
I love the pun. The counterspell, not so much.
Well. This could be the harbinger of inconvenience.
Nah. She’ll be right, mate.
if jagganoth can steal protagonist status, i may become a little frightened
Does Vigilant Gaze have eyes where his nipples are?
Angels are made of eyes poking out through gaps in their stone shells, member?
Are you implying that Vigilant Gaze has boob holes?
hahahaha, you said member
Nip Slip…
Where’s the Yamga (the flying boat) when they need it
The Red God stole the sun-lightning from his quarry, and shackled them to the earth. So great is is might that he is as a singularity upon the firmament, the nullity that draws all things to itself.
AY-YAT!
Well, fuck
WARNING. HYPERSPACE INTERDICTION DETECTED.
My kin were once subject to annihilation by a rival system. In order to fight back, we fled and hopped across the heavens. It was an effective strategy at first… but they were more advanced… tracing our trails with their superior technology.
We were trapped into a corner the moment they deployed jump interdictors. Never before was there a battle of such magnitude during the war.
i actually googled this assuming it was a reference and wanting to know more
Star Wars EU
Alright who gave the Demiurge our technology, they’re destructive enough we don’t need them to learn the secrets of the Sith too
you know what? fuck you
*un-Kings your Key*
You know what? Fuck you
*severs your meridians*
(also, take an upvote, good saoir)
Courting death, junior!
The greatest Sharp Rock competition in creation! How unfortunate attendance is so low. Maybe next time!
Oh no! Jagganoth’s got dad bod! And his thong seems… shrunken in this frame. Maybe it’s just the ice.
I for one am feeling a little thirsty.
He certainly looks thicker and redder in the last frame vs the first… and both seem to be plumper than the previous page.
It appears we’ve found Jagganoth’s “good side”.
So is it just Me or did Allison, LOOSE THE KEY OF THE KING? If so then the universe is doomed, light a candle and raise a glass for the last time.
Literally just you, the rest of us have eyes and see she still has her key. He just canceled her teleport spell.
Yeah as I remember seeing it in the somewhat boring introductory tale by White Chain the Key’s have to be. physically pulled from ones skull to be taken. Yabalchoath stole a fraction of Mammons flame at one point but he definitely still had his actual key. This just seems like a counterspell
I read it as extracting the power, leaving the physical key in place. Therefore it’s ambiguous quite what Jagganoth has taken from Allison.
UM.
well time to panic me thinks.
A tautology, as time is a concept which is panic-worthy on its own
Time to run the old-fashioned way.
You ever just feel something bad about to happen?
Hooray the Ultra Violence!
aww beans
The more worrying point is that Jaggy has time to do this while the other six idiots are supposedly ranged against him.
My thoughts exactly. Bad teamwork aside, it’s revealing that the other six can’t even keep Jagganoth busy.
Seems their calculation that the six could keep the one in check was badly misguided.
To be fair, Jagganoth and the other Demiurges are 2 for 2 in terms of “nearly getting got good”, and Gog seems pretty content just jogging
They were confident in it BEFORE he completed his upgrade. Since he dared show himself, it seems his transformation is complete.
I rescind my earlier comment about the possibility of team going to earth. On another note, Allison is the only member of the team shown on the cover…
There is a potential scene where Allison tells White Chain about Incubus, White Chain tells Allison about Metatron, and they go totally non-linear at each other. I have pre-ordered tickets for that.
What if the moment Incuboy calls in his contract is also the moment Noodleicious Maya makes her move! I’d pay to see that.
Wait, contract? I was under the impression that Incubus’s only contract was his key and influence, which she eventually broke free of
ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US
You have no chance to survive make your time.
Come now, did you honestly think it would be THAT easy to escape the Surprise Challenge Boss? Get real, noob!
It seems like our dear friend Jagganoth is having issues restraining the power in his hand, given his mild shaking. Of course it could be his will exerting itself on the swords.
We will see! We will see!
If her key is the master key, and everyone else’s is a lesser key subservient to hers then she could conceivably turn his mojo against him.
Percy Jagganoth
His Uncle Iroh taught him well.
I can’t believe Somb-I mean Jagganoth can just cancel Allison’s ult by right-clicking, that’s so cheap Jeff plz nerf.

Well…shit
“No Recall or Intervention can work in this place. Come. Lay down your weapons. It is not too late for my mercy.”

Way to steal her thunder, Jaggy!
Panels 4 and 5 are particularly lovely drawings of Allison. The ladies in this comic always look adorable when startled. (Grasping at inconsequentialities as reaction to the ghastliness of the current events.)
As a wise man once said:
“Were it so easy”
Welp. Incubus did say “run” not “teleport”.
Y O I N K !
Arum is Hebrew for naked, appropriately.
Just a friendly reminder that everyone but Allison had to //steal// their power.
Floating swords. No Fate/Stay Night references in the comments?
Fine, I’ll do it myself.
Mmmh… that’s a not so nice but quite literal deus ex machina…
I hesitated to point it out, but since you brought it up… that certainly is DEM. Oh what in the actual fuck! Figured it wouldn’t be that easy to just jet outta there, but Jaggy never ceases to surprise and impress.
Allison, it’s time for Plan B. Yes, you’ll have to make that one up as you go, too.
Well, this certainly brings up questions about Jagganoth’s plan. If he’s stopping Allison so he can take the master key from her, why did he bother to engage the other demiurges here at all? If that isn’t it, why DOES he care if she leaves? In what way is she really “the crux of this matter?”

Very interesting, and many possibilities.
1. It was too soon in his plan to strike. Incubus thinks it’s still too soon.
2. He didn’t want to attack her specifically in Throne because reasons. Maybe he doesn’t want to fight an army of pissed-off angels.

Didn’t he reach out with his RIGHT hand, no sword, in the previous page?
CHEKOV’S PHILOSOPHY MAJOR will soon meet The Word MIND
Allison: “No stairway! Denied!”
Jagganoth denied the stairway and demanded Alice ride the lightening.
Jaggy is stanced up with his codpiece front and center, wielding four “rising” swords and one in his hand. Shits about to get HOT!
Gooood, I was honestly disappointed that the fight scene would end early. Looks like that won’t happen!

Jagganoth stealing the gang’s ticket to ride the lightning? That most certainly wasn’t very cash money of him to do.
But I admire his ability to multi-task.
Well, that is a problem.
The power will not take an irresolute wielder.
they gon’ learn tiday.
I know I’m nitpicking but in the previous page twas Jag’s right hand that wus glowing wide ominous power and this page starts wid his left hand emitting lightning. Anyhoos, shiz gone down da wire and can’t wait to see how they deal wid this foo.

I can’t help but notice that Prince/ss Top is holding onto Zaid very tightly.
That and the fact that Zaid is more useless than Nadia. Are finally getting a bottom for the top?
The most crucially important thing to note here, is how well those earrings go with Allison’s hair. Smashing.
YOU’LL POKE YER EYE OUT, KID!
