Daaaaaaaaang. Not even going to try to offer intelligent commentary here, I’m just going to sit in awe for a bit and spend more time picking out details.
many maps may make my month, with winding ways worth wandering, of our outlandish outer-omniverse, pave peasants’ paths please. chart chapters. an atlas.
A minor detail is something this one does not understand.
We observe the path of All-YIS-UN and Yabalchoath that much further, and yet they are only visiting Xe Tao. How may we deign observe what is to come this much further and may this be a deception?
My fancy, once, bid me pass by the Shades Guild-Moot. Much is said of the lively debates to be had in the Utmost Marketplace, and I wished to behold them.
The roofs of the stalls that cluster around it are steep, and slanted, and spiked, the better to handle the occasional rain of bodies.
Within the Dragonsgate is a massive spiral stairway known as the Psatra-Oyaleidya, “The Great Spine of Ages.” The Fanatic Brotherhood of the Dragonsgate believe the act of ascending and descending the stair to be a holy act, akin to communion with the divine. In accordance with this, they polish each individual stair until it shines like Black Glass.
Hmm… Take a wander on over that way, or maybe a train ride if ya gots money to burn. Then you can tell US just how big Ashton really is. …along with other tales of mayhem, to be sure 😉
Simply fantastic. With the investment of a few words, and a hell of a lot of artistry, you create huge swaths of the world. You can’t possibly visit all of what you’ve presented here in the future span of this comic, let alone what you don’t show us, and the setting is all the better for it.
A few questions, since it dosen’t seem like the answers will come up in the comic proper:
What is the art of Ki Rata, and why are there so few practitioners? What is the Ghost Market’s purpose, if it has one at all? What are the practices of a worker-cult, as opposed to other groups of migratory laborers?
Ki Rata is the most dangerous martial art in the multiverse. Among its practitioners is the Demiurge Solomon David, who has achieved immortality through its breathing exercises.
TVTropes lists that Ki Rata is “the most dangerous martial art in the universe”, and lists Solomon David (the Demiurge of Pride) as one of its practitioners. But it doesn’t give a source. :/
Jhorne the Murderous Vagrant Slays Monsters And Steals Their Loot
They say that there are people so desperate to enter the refuge of throne that they will forsake the bureaucratic queues and scale the wall itself. Most die, or if they reach the top get kicked back off by wandering patrolmen. This feeds a healthy ecosystem of scavengers and dregs at the foot of the wall.
Others say there are whole communities of hanging tents set up by those that got halfway and realised their folly. They act as useful waystations for those brave enough to try and ascend the upper half, or as trading posts for smugglers and criminals. I once met a man born and raised in such a hanging village clinging desperately to the nearest wall and utterly terrified of the floor.
Y’all probly noticed where the Ladies had to diverge from the GDB rail just shy of thier cable station and take to the streets again. Most likely due to a scheduled delay, where the commuter trains have to make way for the almost-hourly GDBX.
The Grand Dragon Bank Express are big, blood-red sumb!tches that keep the money flowing around the city. ‘Course it’s gaurded to the teeth (yessir, it literally has teeth), and oh man that engine! The DD736 has 36 devil-driven cylinders (I’m talking big red devils, not the little blue ones neither) cased in Rhodium alloy to move these beasts around the city with a quickness. I hear tell that the wheels are enchanted to keep it on the tracks, but that could be just a story. She’s a pusher too – any jumped up train-gang decides they’re too good to pull to the side, the Red Express’ll show them just how important they were. Heh…
Every time I start to get even slightly put out by a missed update, Abaddon inevitably spits something like this out. First it was the War of the Teacups, and now this. Hot damn.
This is, of course, merely a symbolic representation hitting the high points. Ashton and Outer Ashton, far vaster than any Earthly city, are actually much larger than one would gather from this map: but to portray Ashton in true proportion with respect to the wall and a visibly curving arc of the same would reduce all save the wall itself and the ramps leading to the gates to a mere luminous fuzz glowing with an intricate nervous network. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BBZL8AiCYAA9m9k.jpg:large

Part 3 when?
many maps may make my month, with winding ways worth wandering, of our outlandish outer-omniverse, pave peasants’ paths please. chart chapters. an atlas.
Cio’s got this commute down to a T.
That “full size” image is way too small. I can hardly read anything. You’ve gotta post a larger one. Like, the size that just 5-43 was.

*breath taken* this… is so beautiful

I advise you not try the local gyros.

They loot the corpses of those who slip and fall.
So, does Ashton over the ENTIRETY of outer Throne on the shadowside?

I am in awe. Truly a great map of Ashton.
My god, where do you even find the time to finish this posts in time? it’s amazing.
Wow…. Like a million things to see here! It´s amazing!

That’s… actually believable, if you think about it. Not all over the wall, but maybe one or two places.
Good catch.
You’d think such an eyesore could be avoided easily with a set of wings, but you’d be wrong.
Trust me.
The residents have guns, and love their sport.

I’d like to visit the Ghost Market.
We do admit a preference for pyramid-shaped structures.

Always good to explain that for those that have little knowledge of Architecture and scale projection.
Surprise to see you here B_Munro
Man… I wonder if Mystic Empyrean’s system could be remade for this setting? I love making games and this thing -screams- for an rpg around it.
